Description
With my three year 'anniversary' as a MacJammer, I decided to go back to my GarageBand archives and dig out the very first song I ever posted here.

I've deleted the original song since I first posted it, but here it is remixed--I've kept the original vocal and the bass and piano loops in this version, adding new drum loops and strings.
(Thanks to Bryn (biba_nova) for working with the original vocal track to clean up some of the hiss! :)

The vocal was recorded on the iBook pinhole microphone, and was added at the last minute to a song I'd made after watching a series of online tutorials on GarageBand 1.
The comments I got in return for this first 'experiment' were very constructive and encouraging. As a result, I continued to experiment and post, upgrade from the pinhole mic to recording equipment, and....well, you can see by my song list that I've never stopped.

Thanks again to all of you here who encouraged my early attempts, invited me to collaborate, and have enjoyed the music I've posted since.

Just as fulfilling as creating the music has been the ability to share it.

:)

what
a cool way to celebrate 3 years here at MJ....great song....very sultry vocal.....good mix with the right amount of space in between the folds of grooves and vibe....I'd say this is rather pro sounding....my only complaint is that's it's too short....I was left wanting to hear more....but better to play it again, that's what my repeat button is for....lol.....a fab job

cheers....

Sounds fab
I don't recall the original...before my time here I reckon :)....but this sounds fab. Its amazing the quality of vocal you got from that lil' pinhole mic back in the early days of your career.
Great stuff
Steve

What a Pity!
Quick note-- not allowing it for download? Shame, it's a nice short piece.

A true talent was born
Wow, that pinhole mic did pretty darn good. I could never use mine because the computer fan made too much noise. I spent days trying to dig up a mic that got great reveiews but didn't exist anymore, but I found it.

Anyways, good to know that you were encouraged to continue. It's certainly benefitted your fans (myself included)that you kept at it-- I mean, just look at your list of tracks! Here's to three years, and hopefully a lot more. Congratulations Cat.

Whew!!!
Talk about starting off MacJamming with a BANG! Gorgeous soundscape, love the effective pause before that driving beat and sultry vocal takes me away to Mysti-land. Very cool artwork too BTW. So glad you're part of this community!

Keep well,
Doug

Thanks, Doug
That pause was something new I added in the remix.

Funny how you hear the same things 'differently' when you approach a song again later.

I knew absolutely *nothing* about recording at home, singing with a mic (as opposed to singing in regular room acoustics), mixing/production values....

Joining this community definitely opened a new door of creativity for me and I'm so grateful for that.

Thanks for listening :)

I never heard this one...
...first time around...

It's stark, and arresting, and belongs on an album...A snippet that leaves people wondering, ears open, wanting more...
