Description:
Sorry, but I'm really trying to get this song tweaked right. Please let me know if there is an improvement...
I wrote this song about a program called Second Life. Many people spend their time living a second life in this virtual world called Second Life. A Lot of our own musicians here on macjams play live gigs at different venues there.
This version is definitely enhanced and it blows my mind now that I listen to it with Scott Carmichael back up vocals. Scott not only re-mixed and doubled my vocals using a John Lennon technique but also added a wonderful back up harmony that fills the void this song needed. Thanks Scott for giving this song a second life.
When you get a chance check Scott's macjams site.
Lyrics:
A Second Life by TEXASFEEL
I see that there's another world another life that I could live
And now there's a second chance a second choice oh should I relive
O should I re-live this dream
A second life...
I know I can fly I believe I could reach the sky
I think I could make residence or maybe I could be relevant
And I want it too
and I want you to know...
I want it too
and I want you to know...
I want it too
and I want you to know...
Chance I may... another world another life... another time
Reach a goal advanced this time and find some other soul
And I want it too
and I want you to know...
I want it too
and I want you to know...
I want it too
and I want you to know...
I know I can fly I believe I could reach the sky
I think I could make residence or maybe I could be relevant
Middle / Re Entry
Here's a chance that I've bestowed a legend in my mind some day may be told
About a second hand could reach and maybe achieve another dream...
And I want it too
and I want you to know...
I want it too
and I want you to know...
I want it too
and I want you to know...
O should I re-live this dream
A second life...

for some reason this is screaming Tripping Daisy meets Little River Band.....I'm not even joking.....and I'm not bashing it....just what it makes me think of.....I think maybe the drums and guitars could stand to come up....but the performances and the song is cool....really dug that walk up out of the bridge, man even a slight Ty Tabor influence at work here perhaps....hmm....I dig it though

Very strong and very professional/commercial sounding.Sounds like a XTC influenced tune.Just so 'right on' vocal and guitar work.Very, very, very nice song.Great collab.

production etc on this good song; very Beatle-esque. Love those harmonies and the idea behind the lyrics, cheers M [ Reply to This ]
nice nice stuff &mdash 12/07/07 - 10:09:11 AM
nice flowing song bed, lyrics nestle right in, great guitar work of course, great backing bass & drums, and the singing is awesome... Scott's harmonies are so rich and dead-on, it reminds me a bit of old CSNY. There's a bit of "Free Bird" flashback too, but enough comparisons, this is just a very enjoyable track, you did very well with it. As for production, uh, the lead guitar has a teeny bit too much distortion-bite to my ears (but its likely just my ears), but the levels & EQ are really sweet.

Tweaks- &mdash 12/07/07 - 07:39:28 PM
I listened to both versions and the vocals seem to sit better- like maybe you lowered the 3-5k range a tad on the EQ (to my ears, anyway). I do like this mix over the other one. [ Reply to This ]

Great song by all means, the guitar work is (as always) excellent. The vocal is (as always) great from master Scott. Hats off here too! I'm enjoying this piece very much. Thanks a lot for sharing and sorry for being late!
