Description:
this is another version of http://www.macjams.com/song/37345 featuring the voice of Moviz

Lyrics:
There's A Bell In The Valley

There's a bell in the valley
It sings to the wind
There's a bell in the valley
Where do i begin

This time i will listen
But will i hear the song

This night as i'm sleeping
A long, long way from home
I'm a long, long way from home

There's a voice in the valley
It speaks to my mind
There's a voice in the valley
It speaks to mankind

But who here is listening
And hearing what it says

This night as we're dreaming
A long, long way from home
We're a long, long way from home
We're a long, long way from home

Sweet rendition &mdash 12/08/07 - 12:49:29 PM
This has a real warmth. Nicely captured dream state.

Very nicely recited lyrics.

You guys have created &mdash 12/08/07 - 04:14:53 PM
something beautiful here. It segues really well into Bing and Bowie's Little Drummer Boy on my holiday playlist. Cheers.

i feel lucky to have enlisted Moviz's help on this - i was imagining how his voice would sound on this, and i am very very glad he agreed to give it a go!

thanks

staggering... &mdash 12/10/07 - 07:12:46 PM
At first, the way you staggered each vocal phrase slightly after the musical phrase, I thought it was a little unusual (not good or bad)... but the more I listened, as the song progressed, the more I liked the staggered effect, and just as I got used to it, Maurice pulled in sync for the end, which was profoundly satisfying... what a cool technique. And that's to say nothing for the marvelous musical bed, and the nice warm voice of Maurice. Well done you two!

Drakonis

the cat's out of the bag!

thanks for noticing that little detail - i was thinking of a phase-locked-loop on that - it's sort of symbolic of a person "getting in sync" with ? (something, i don't know, oneself, the divine, the universe?)

Maurice gave me two readings, and i picked the best intonations from each, and then reassembled the whole thing. so i could adjust the timing of his wonderful delivery at will.

the timing was mostly intuition at first, but eventually i saw what was happening and decided to really zero it in at the ending. i actually ended up needing to extend Maurice's voice saying "from" to make it sound right.

thanks

PLL or not, &mdash 12/10/07 - 10:06:51 PM
this is a touching encounter with that which speaks to us of something broader than our usual self-concern.

Thanks for the collab folks!
Cheers,
Doug
