midi usage and recording &mdash 12/16/07 - 01:16:09 PM
I tend to lean toward the Punk philosophy of keeping it short & simple. Usually. Sometimes I feel this piece could go more places, and perhaps it will someday.

I use the midi mainly to write, arrange & orchestrate with; as we all know, midi by itself leaves a lot to be improved on. It's a little difficult to get string instruments to sound real. So, since it is great as a controller, I run a score from Cubase SE into my keyboard (GEM PK5), which overall has a really great instrument quality to it, then I feed it back into Cubase & record an audio track for each instrument, touch it up and mix it. No loops on this.
