Description:
I guess its a folk rock alt pop thing. At some point I'd like to do "good" production, but by that time I'll have forgotten how to play it. The song started as a folk song, then I got bored. :)
Lyrics:
I don't know why
you must reach for the sky
you won't make it to this social circle
you got nothing to do but hang out with your crew
your no better than your lousy uncle
bill's better than you
he done well in school
he don't need any body to save him
I don't know why you the star of her eye
you don't have any plans but to play for the band
for sure, you'll end up blue
just a stone in her shoe
you can't climb up that hill with both hands on a broom
bill's better than you
he done well in school
he's got all his numbers on paper
You belong in a stew
your just something to do
while enjoying the view
don't tip your conoe
I only pray that my Sally's OK
you must not lay a finger upon her fine loviness
everyone says she deserves more than this
a great big heaping pile of your ignorant bliss
bill's better than you
he done well in school
he's got all his numbers on paper

So nice of you to leave some comments... I should be able to "nail it" because I am a carpenter. I hate to think how many thing I've nailed. The beat Is my favorite part of this too. Thanks dude, Regards [ Reply to This ]
so glad &mdash 12/12/07 - 01:32:22 PM
to see you posting again. this is great the way it is, not sure that "good production" would add anything (look what happened when the Replacements got real production values). you have one of my fave voices around these parts, and the song is excellent (as usual). nice one. [ Reply to This ]
I post when I can &mdash 12/13/07 - 01:03:23 AM
but there's precious little free time. The last thing anyone need worry about is me producing some thing too well. (;
I appreciate the comment about the vocal because Im pretty self conscious about my voice , but I ignore that when I sing err vocalize. I'm not the best singer, so I try to perform. Does that make sense? Anyway thanks. [ Reply to This ]
but can Bill.... &mdash 12/12/07 - 09:05:43 PM
...sing and play as well as you do?
nice tune with a late '60's/early 70's flair. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Vic &mdash 12/13/07 - 01:14:05 AM
I think it was the early seventies, when I wore flairs. A few years latter I had a powder blue leisure suite with this absurd silky shirt. Being fashionable is risky. What were we talking about? Thanks for the listen and comment. Regards [ Reply to This ]

a donut. Like I told someone before, I have to sound live because I don't know how to sound studio. Thanks for your comments I appreciate them a lot. Regards [ Reply to This ]

great catchy song. Like the free and easy feel to it all. Really enjoyed the listen. I have the same problem about remembering. Once I have posted a song I instantly forget how to play it (strange eh?). Would have liked to read the lyrics.
Cheers

I appreciate you stopping buy. If I think the lyrics are any good I write them down. Other wise I figure it's best left to the imagination. Regards [ Reply to This ]
bill is 1 of a kind &mdash 12/15/07 - 01:01:20 PM
and now he has a theme song. I bet if you sent it to him he'd have it playing in the background whenever he was on TV.
Another good tune Buck, I love your stuff. [ Reply to This ]

That would be cool. Your words are very kind, I dig your work as well. Regards [ Reply to This ]

I hope you're not typing with a pencil held between you teeth. Nice of you to stop by...... Sure expression is important but I think "craft" is also important.
I think what I meant,by the above statement, is that I should have learned the words and chords before I decided to record. I guess my problem is I get bored before I know the music well enough to produce it well. If that makes any sense at all. Regards [ Reply to This ]
Nahhh.... &mdash 12/18/07 - 03:15:36 AM

Man this is good - where have I been? &mdash 12/19/07 - 09:19:18 PM
Is that Bill Walton - the old Deadhead? Cool. You have a great natural feel to your music that I just love. A little Holy Modal Rounders. Sure glad I stopped by. BTW - I think the production is great. Ever listen to Alex Chilton's Like Flies on Sherbert? Now there's a record. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks for stoppin in. &mdash 12/20/07 - 01:58:25 AM
I tryed to write and produce this , so that any old little four piece band could imitate it. As far as your artists references, I feel like the protaganist in this song
"a great big heaping pile of ignorant bliss" Regards [ Reply to This ]
He was... &mdash 12/20/07 - 07:18:20 AM
...a great player. Got skinny legs, now. Seems like a good guy.
As to the tune: my first listen to your stuff and couldn't have enjoyed it more. You definitely know how to write and perform a tune.
I'm no expert on production...but this sounds good to me.
Best,

Thanks Bob. &mdash 12/21/07 - 01:51:15 AM
I guess by production, I meant pre- production. I genearlly like to learn a song a little more before I record but there's never time. Thanks for the words. Regards [ Reply to This ]

Words are the hardest part for me. Thanks for stoppin in and leaving some words I appreciate It. Regards [ Reply to This ]
I agree with Feter &mdash 02/10/08 - 05:23:58 AM
It does remind me of Bob Dylan, about the time of Forever Young. Good and catchy song. Also the overall feel reminds me in parts also of The Crickets early stuff, not sure what's doing that , it may be the vocals. Doesn't matter anyway it all sounds fine.

wonderful tune, enjoyed it a lot. This track is full of feeling, great musicianship - and the lyrics are very nice :-) Really cool! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Andreas &mdash 02/24/08 - 02:03:23 PM
Words from a true musician like you are taken with humility.(I consider my self to be kind of a faker) The only true musicianship on this track is from the fellow that recorded the drum loops. Thanks for your kind words. Auf Wiedersehen! [ Reply to This ]
