Christmas (148)Trees (9)People (19)Children (47)Snow (52)Church bells (2)Absent Friends (1)Singing (23)Smile (24)Kids (26)Warm (12) ()
Description:
This is my first Christmas here at MJ, so I just had to do a Christmas song. It's a traditional cosy ballad, but I was never going to do Punk was I? Hope you give it a listen and like it, because there are no shocks here and it's my chance to wish you All here, All the Very Best for the Season and for my past months since I joined: you all made /make it such fun. The laughter at the end was genuine as I heard myself sing " Merry christmas Everybody-ey-ey-ey", in an un-intentional typical 'Bing' warbling fashion.I would have erased that bit, but It sounded so funny to me, that I left in because of the laughter and I never knew how much my laughter sounded like Santa 'till now LOL.

Lyrics:
Christmas, Christmas

Verse 1.
Christmas, Christmas, A time when love and laughter fill the air,
Children singing carols everywhere,
Trees stand tall in the firelight’s glow
And the Baubles shine so bright,
While the kids curl up in bed so warm and tight.
Verse 2.
Christmas, Christmas, Greetings being shared by one and all,
Loved ones taking time to make a call,
And, share a gift just to show they care,
Even though it’s been a while,
Wishing “Merrry Christmas” with a smile.

Bridge.
Church bells will be ringing and maybe snow will fall
People will be singing and a good time will be had by all.

Verse 3.
Christmas, Christmas, When Loving feelings surface once again,
A cosy, cosy feeling everywhere,
As….thoughts are turned to absent friends,
And glasses raised with cheer,
So Mem’rys will keep burning ever clear.

Middle Break….
Half Verse.
The trees stand tall in the firelight’s glow
And and the baubles shine so bright,
While the kids curl up in bed so warm and tight.

Repeat Bridge,
Repeat 2nd verse.
Ending…… Wishing “Merry Christmas” with a smile,
Merry Christmas Everybody,
Merry Christmas Al,l
Merry Christmas All,
Merry Christmas All.

Yes &mdash 12/12/07 - 03:47:46 PM
Michael2, it does have that oldie world feel and it's the kind of song for listening to with a glass of sherry, when you're spread in front of the fire after Christmas Dinner LOL, Thanks for listening to this, Regards M

Such a... &mdash 12/12/07 - 03:31:47 PM
..gentle little song full of nostalgia. Yes, it does sound like it might be from a 40's movie as the final credits roll. Nicely constructed and with a very pleasant melody, Maurice. I love the bells...and the dreamy, whirly organ (?) in the accompaniment. Just a cozy song that one would easily hear inside that great photo you selected. Thanks for the beautiful gift.
Peace.

Hi Paul, &mdash 12/12/07 - 03:55:20 PM
So pleased you listened to this and liked it. It is a nostalgic song (I'm hankering after my youth LOL). No Organ here, but Strings, Guitar, bass, choir and electric piano. I like the pic too even though it is 'Chocolate Boxy',because I thought it suited the song, regards M

I LOVE IT!!! &mdash 12/13/07 - 11:37:50 AM
Spot on - this is the kind of Christmas song that demands a log fire and a gallon of Bailey's on ice!!!

Great work, Mo. I always have a soft spot for "mem'ries"...

Suits you down to the last note. Straight to the Christmas playlist. I even like the Django Reinhardt inspired strumming (the cheaper the guitar the better!)

Great laugh too!!!

The song art couldn't be more fitting... the song has an idyllic peaceful snowy night sound. Your singing is pretty amazing, and the whole production sounds incredibly well sculpted. The strings and bells are too perfect! The laugh definitely belongs in there.

Authentic &mdash 12/14/07 - 04:44:25 PM
Maurice, this sounds so authentically Christmas. Conjures a picture postcard of a snowy scene with snowman and children frolicking. It even sounds like an old recording.
It should be being shown on the TV at the moment in that supermarket ad that you must have seen.
Merry Christmas Maurice.
Cheers
Len

Bing &mdash 12/16/07 - 06:45:14 AM
Yes, you do have a nice Bing Crosby quality to your voice, Moviz. Very listenable.

The part where the melody descends, and the chord changes to minor, sounds a lot like "Blue Bayou," sung by Linda Rondstadt, around 1977.

Thanks John &mdash 12/16/07 - 08:24:51 AM
Glad you could listen to this. I know I've heard that song, but not sure which part you mean. I'll try to find it somewhere.... then again, I think we all have pieces of music subconsciously swirling around which surface at given times.... and.... there are only so many notes for us to use, to compute into various songs and melodies. Glad you approve of this John, Merry Christmas, M

You always seem to have an uplifting tune when I go to your site. But also the pics are nice to see. This one fits in nicely plus the sweet sounds of moviz. I miss the sweetness of the 50's. And you seem to bring that back. To me that is precious because it celebrates an era that supplied some of the best music I've ever heard. Maybe you can be instrumental in helping it come back!

way to go
