Description

this is a song that I wrote in the vein of the Beatles (obviously), and I can't seem to come up with any guitar parts. i tried to get my best George Harrison on, but no luck (i'm not subtle enough). anyways this is a VERY rough mix (vox, bass, drums and wurlitzer), but i wanted to see if anyone thought they might wanna take a shot at it. i have uploaded the AIFF file to sendspace so feel free to grab it and work your magic. i used an AIFF since some might not have the plug ins i used for the keyboard, or the same GB version I have.

i thought about no guitars, but since it's basically a tribute/rip-off, i figured they should be in there. the way it usually ends up working, is i throw it up for everyone to play with, and then get inspired by others and finish it myself. i could hear horns like the Stones used on I Got The Blues, or maybe like an old Otis Redding song (more like chords and swells). thanks so much for listening.

This is genius - the verse and chorus are so strong, and your vocal is magnificent. When i saw 'open collab' i was ready to hit the download button, but i'm steering clear of this, as i cant play guitar, and otherwise its unimproveable (is that a word)!

as for being prolific, writing songs is a good cheap way to pass the time (when work is slow that is). i get frustrated when i don't have any time to play. MJ has been a really cool find, as for awhile there I was thinking that I had lost the ability to write songs after not playing in a band for awhile. thanks again.

	Way cool Michael - your vocals on this are just amazing - but what really stood out to me is the perfect Ringo tom rolls you got in the chorus - very Come Together there. Excellent tune. it's hard getting fills together. especially Ringo style (he played so weird). i wish there were some loops of Keith Moon style drums. I heard "I Can See For Miles" on a commercial the other day, and it just always blows me away. I have a friend who learned how to play drums (after playing piano for years), and he is very Keith Moon. He has a record out (calls himself Extra), that is amazing: Floyd, The Who, The Beatles and some seriously prog touches abound through the whole thing. It's a double record, if that says anything about his view on music.

anyways, I digress. thanks for listening, and I think I have a song for you to get all Neil style on.

Very good song Michael. Your vocal harmonies and backing vocals are right on the spot. And the seventies piano adds to the beatles sound.

If you're going to do another version of this I'd like to suggest a couple of things that I think could bring on the Beatles feel even more...

Drums: They are good choices for the song, but the slightly groovy hi-hat is a bit too "Motown" and could be replaced with a straighter "Ringo" one...
Otherwise - great! The fills are very Ringo-like.

Bass: Well placed to the drums. Maybe a bit anonymous... Paul had the bass guitar very visible in the mix and used to hit some higher notes once in a while to let us know he was there...

And if you get a Harrison-like guitar in here... you'll have a awesome Beatles-like song! I say - go for it!

Whatever about the
guitar you think might be missing, this song stands on its own as it is simply because of the vocal. It is a great performance; there is great subtlety and emotion in your singing here, and everything else becomes secondary to that, I'd say. I'd be very interested to hear what somebody comes up with for the guitar. I will stay tuned. Very nice, dude. Peace.

	beatle's vibe Nicely done, vocals very enjoyable/I broke out the es335 for that old Harrison sound.Only that semi hollow can voice the beatle's that way . glad i am collabing on this one . TOMMY
