Description:
Lollipop by Super 8

Ahhhh....Christmas 1994...

Super 8 (David Griffiths vocals/guitar, Bryn Corbett guitar, Ian Hough bass) were playing regular gigs in an around the Birmingham area. Small pubs, local dives, 50 quid to hire a PA for the night, charge 1 quid on the door and just about break even with costs...happy days indeed.

We had a small but loyal following and our gigs were groovy happening events (I have got videos to prove it!)

We recorded our demos on a yamaha MT100 4 track cassette portastudio and plastered everything in Alesis Quadraverb in the hope of making it all stick together...

This song is a trip down memory lane for me, and I do believe that it was only played once by us live and went down a storm - with its Glitterband beat, a nod to Roy Wood wishing it could be xmas everyday and its britpop sensibilities

Good lord - this recording is almost 15 yrs old!!!! Happy Birthday Lollipop

I always loved this song - and I still do

Hope you do too

Here is Lollipop in all of its lo-fi glory

that I'm a huge fan of Super 8, so when are you going to make everything available? this is great: equal parts Gary Glitter, Magazine (guitars) and Soft Cell (in the vocal delivery). you are a rock star. that break halfway in is a killer. really great song (and production).

This Lo-Fi Is Mighty Fine! &mdash 12/20/07 - 03:12:54 AM
As I sit here listening to this song for the 3rd time. I find myself wondering what this song must have been like to see performed live. I'm curious to see people's reactions to the pop you guys put into this song. Thanks for sharing!!

great rocking tune. Really good fun - two drum kits would have just rounded it off.
This could have been a big hit and should have been. Maybe still could?
Enjoyed this a lot. Thanks. Downloaded.

Great song &mdash 12/20/07 - 04:13:14 PM
and something I could have imagined hearing on the radio! Cool guitar and nice vocal. Great poppy chorus to complement the glam rock style verses. Nice one. Got any more gems hidden away? Peace.

Oh Yaaa &mdash 12/24/07 - 01:03:41 PM
This has a T-Rex, Joan Jett, Roxette feel to me. I like the sound of those crunchy guitars and wouldn't mind hearing more of them in the mix on top of the tight shuffle beat. The contrast between the guitars and the sweet-lollipop vocal is pretty cool.
