Its certainly original - I dont think Ive ever heard a dog sample used so creatively. What do you mean by the longest night of the year? is that june 21st,or am I being thick again? I'm on freesound too quite an intriguing hive of samples

night/day?

you had me going there for a mo.

yeah. longest night - that's winter.

why i tossed in those crickets is hard to explain. the dog sample was so clean - it was too clean. the sound of the dead of winter is kinda quiet - so i put in a sound of summer night instead... maybe that explains it?

freesound is great! i'm there too!

thanks!

Intriguing &mdash 12/22/07 - 01:03:19 PM
This had my son running downstairs to see what was going on. I think he thought he'd gotten a puppy for Christmas! Nice drum sound, and the keyboards are lovely. This reminds me in some way of earlier Pink Floyd - like the Atom Heart Mother album period. Very different and very nice. Peace.

hey thanks, i'm a big fan of PF!

i was drawn in by the rhythm of the barking in a sound sample - and the rest spun out from there.

sorry about the puppy incident!

thanks

I think this time the saying &mdash 12/22/07 - 04:10:28 PM
"you're one sick puppy" is just too easy - though appropriate. I really wanted this to go on longer - I was getting into it.

i imagine you must have been barking right along? :-)

but i know what you mean - this feels like an intro.

hmmm... maybe i need to explore that idea.

thanks!

interesting piece though.

My dog's just spent 10 minutes barking at the hi-fi.

Cheers

hi Vic

i spent the majority of my time on those dog tracks. it was a gamble.

i began hearing the chords in my head as it progressed, so by the time i got around to doing the piano part, it went pretty quickly.

thanks

You nut... &mdash 12/24/07 - 12:50:39 PM
...if you were in walking distance, I'd be bringing you over something to share in celebration of the dog.

I ended up standing on my head next to an egg at a solstice party...it was fun.

I wasn't standing on my head the next morning, though

that chord progression certainly has possibilities. i could imagine doing sort of rock-blues guitar lead in front of that...

thanks for dropping by
