Description:
A song I wrote because I'm a hopeless romantic. Comments are alwaysss appreciated.

Note on the end: The last minute or so of the song contained a personal message which has been edited out. It has not been reformated to shorten the song accordingly, thus bear with me for the last minute of the song please.

Lyrics:
Fairy tales and lullabies
A guitar that is broken
I will sing to you with shaky notes
Girl, I'm no prince charming so
Forgive me for simplicity
These times they are complex
But I assure you my sincerity
Even where talent's absent
History's repeating
But our innocence got lost along the way
But see we forged this life
With every past mistake
Wipe away the melancholy
From each questioning eye
Drive into your dreams whilst listening
To this lullaby

Drive into the night
The sun's on the other side
Don't cry yourself to sleep tonight
My heart will be your lullaby

Fairy tales and lullabies
A guitar that is broken
I will sing to you with shaky notes
Girl I'm no prince charming
Scared to death but so alive
Baby steps to sky dive
Falling faster than the rain
Baby you're the lightning
Striking eyes locked into mine
Life never made a promise
If my hand can't breach this distance
Then my heart will fill the silence
Wipe away the melancholy
From each questioning eye
And drive into your deams whilst listening
To this lullaby

Drive into the night
The sun's on the other side
Don't cry yourself to sleep tonight
My heart will be your lullaby

I see &mdash 12/23/07 - 08:28:33 AM
that being a hopeless romantic does not prevent you from good song writing. This is quite creative, with the alternation of different styles.

Very well done.

good &mdash 12/23/07 - 08:31:59 AM
good song!

i like the last minute of the song just as it is. it gives the listener a little "breathing room" to ponder your message - that works really well.

thanks

I like this a lot &mdash 12/23/07 - 03:02:36 PM
Great lyrics, and a lovely melodic verse. The change into the chorus is unexpected, but works well. Nicely recorded, and mixed. Good sounds throughout, and your vocal is great. I'd pan the guitar on the chorus a little less, but that's just me. This is a great song, and a very nice performance. Nice work. Peace.

why thankyou &mdash 12/25/07 - 07:04:14 PM
I really appreciate the listen and such positive feedback!

I ran the guitar track through a phaser during the chorus, which is probably the panning you speak of. It definitely bounces around alot, so I get that some people may want something more centered. I'll definitely play around with it some and see what my amateur ears come up with.

Thanks again!

Three years ago, I was not a songwriter. I credit MacJams with nourishing a hidden obsession. You are on your way!

nice listen on a snowy midnight &mdash 12/26/07 - 01:38:54 AM
christmas day.. past midnight.. snowing outside... then i chance upon this song. just like your other songs, this one is a catchy tune that remains in my head after i have finished listening to it... it has a light and unconventional romantic mood to it that i can slide into.

i like the chorus in particular... it ascends to a high note that shows your range. the synth kinda sets a new energy in the chorus but the treatment was a bit harsh in some areas. it can be a little bit more refined.

overall, it's a very pleasing song... especially on a snowy night like this. it's a download gift of a song...

Well merry christmas!! Your latest track was quite the present itself. Next year for christmas I'd love a set of pipes like yours!

Thanks for the feedback! I'll take notes from guys like you any day.

Good Stuff &mdash 12/28/07 - 01:48:54 AM
I'm really digging the sparse acoustic guitar arrangement and the actual recording of it. Your lyrics are wonderful. The phased guitar grates a little bit against my ears but some tweaking here and there would help that out. Great job dude!

The genre is right &mdash 01/05/08 - 12:18:07 AM
Ha ha.. so I mean by that is the Genre:Other tag you have on this is completely right. It doesn't have the feel of a typical song which is a good thing. You have a good mix with a slightly out of tune (both not bothersome) guitar, interesting synth and an "out-of-phase" feel on your voice in the chorus. I like the chorus but would suggest to watch your pitch when ascending into the upper range :). It's also good to take a look at the auto tune options in GB to help tweak this. Otherwise, really good... a show of fresh potential :)

thanks for the feedback! I definitely could have done a few more takes of the chorus (that was actually the first or second take I think). Perhaps I should be more careful about tuning the guitar as well. Thanks for stopping by and giving me a listen! Much appreciated.

Stay young man. ;)

Novel and &mdash 10/05/08 - 10:16:31 PM
interesting structure and line patterning. Has a certain refrain as something from the thirties and David Bowie combines. Great line for the chorus. Maybe some back up harmonies on something similar in the future.

Keep up the funness..........

thanks for checking this one out!

it is plagued (like all of my work) by a gross lack of production/performance quality. . . but I tihnk the idea of the song gets across. glad you found it fun!
