Description:
The title is based on Blade Runner and the music is quite similar to the music from that film and the triple album released earlier this year, by Vangelis.

The music is not for listening on headphones. I made it so that it would sound 'spacey' and verby, not something worth listening to on phones.

It's probably the first of a series I'm doing, with futuristic themes. Just something I have to get out of my system over the next few days, weeks or months ahead.

The tune was put together in energyXT2, using 3 plugins, where one plugin (with volumes turned down so this didn't add sounds) triggered the others, depending on the programming of the first plugin and the presets/programming of the other plugins.

There's ton's of scope for this type of arrangement and I'm also working on MIDI stuff too, so expect the unexpected.

Hi there &mdash 12/23/07 - 01:31:12 PM
Good to hear something from you again. I'm way behind on my listening, and I've got a lot of catching up to do. This is a great piece. I'm a huge fan of Vangelis' Blade Runner music, and this is certainly in the same spirit, but also quite different. Great sounds, and amazing width and space in the mix. Very nice piece. Good work. Wishing you and yours a Happy Christmas and a creative New Year. Peace.

Last week I bought the new box sets of the Blade Runner movies and the 3 CD music offering.

I couldn't resist placing myself at that 'mythical time' in a possible future, and recording what I felt and experienced.

I also read PKD's original novel that the BR film is based on. Different in a similar way!?

Take care, and all the best to you and yours over Christmas, 2008 and beyond.

Paul

PDK fan myself, and when I watched the first version of the movie (complete with voiceover etc.) I was kind of disappointed, until I realized I needed to evaluate the movie on its own merits, and now I love it (especially since they removed the voiceover!). Have a great CHristmas and a peaceful New Year. Peace.

I always welcome your views and opinions.

I finished the mix and thought that I'd add more 'space' so I put it through Voxengo's free Stereo Touch effect, and if this hadn't have worked I use the free Ambience from Smartelectronix.

Have a great holiday and 2008.

Take care.

would be proud to have this as ambient tracks in their new director's cut. There's a slow edgy burn going on here that makes me think of the street scenes in the crazy urban asian flavored scenes. Lots of staring from Harrison Ford back and forth with Daryl Hannah. Who needs dialogue when you've got this!!!

The scene you mention, in BR, is one of those I imagined when I listened to the rough mix. I didn't think it was 'immediate' enough so I chose 'Skin Jobs' because it's so 'racial' and demeaning to life forms of whatever makeup.

These sort of sounds really effect me. Vangelis is a hero of mine and so with 3 CD's of his music playing through my head over the last 7 days, I couldn't resist having a pop at some BR-esque soundscapes.

Have a great Christmas and 2008.

Take care.

Paul.

Blade Runner... &mdash 12/24/07 - 04:01:08 PM
...I'm not familiar with these films, but can honestly say that I am fascinated by (1) the process you used to create this, and (2) by the overall effect all these combinations have on the listener. Very spacey, indeed. I listened with a headset and particularly enjoyed all the subtle things that might otherwise be overlooked. You've got to score a movie, Paul. You have such an ear for this kind of soundtrack. Wonderfully inventive!
Peace.

Many thanks Paul..... &mdash 12/25/07 - 04:31:55 PM
It would be a dream come true for me to score a movie. I've made inroads into this type of genre but have a long way to go. I'm also supposed to be actively persuing a course on this subject at the moment.

There are subtleties to this piece and there will be to my next upload, Mariana Trench, which will be up later.

Take care.

Not quite what I was expecting &mdash 12/24/07 - 08:56:23 PM
but then the only thing I know from the BR soundtrack is the "love theme". This is a bit different. But once I settled into it I could imagine this as a backdrop for some of the futuristic city scenes. Your music is just as disfunctional and alienating, and I mean that in a good sense. Your evoking the right emotions. Good stuff.

Thanks for listening and leaving your kind comments.

Blade Runner is one of my all time favourite films so I also love the Vangellis musical back drops that he does.

Take care.
