Mark Koch (markkoch): music, production, all instruments, backing vocals, child laughter
Alan Crouch (NorthPoint): lyrics, vocals
Thanks much to Mark for sharing this fine music for collaboration. The first thought that came to me when I heard the first verse was a Merry Go Round. And then… well I think you’ll see where we went from there. (round and round and round and round….) The lyrics basically wrote themselves in about an hour. The goal was a happy sound of cotton candy and carousel to go with Mark's calliope music.
We’re looking forward to your feedback, and Happy Holidays!!

Merry Go Round
Music: Mark Koch; Lyrics: Alan Crouch
When I was just a kid I'd sneak out at night,
Down to the boardwalk to hear the music and see the sights
All the people wavin' smilin' movin' up and down,
Feelin' the magic on the Merry Go Round
Some like the brown horse but I like the black,
My daughter likes the zebra, next to the giraffe
Just close your eyes and smile and hear the happy sounds,
Relive your childhood on the Merry Go Round
Bridge
Feel and magic and turn back time
Pay the Barker and take the ride
Forget your troubles and laugh like a child
Spinnin' round and round and round
Guitar Solo
Just close your eyes and smile and hear the happy sounds,
When you're feelin' lost and don't want to be found
Bridge
Feel and magic and turn back time
Pay the Barker enjoy the ride
Forget your troubles and laugh like a child
Spinnin' round and round and round and round
The youngsters ride with no hands and the grown-ups smile like kids,
Clockwise makes you older and reverse is young again
So when you're feelin' lost and don't want to be found
Just close your eyes and smile and hear the happy sounds,
Feel the magic and fret no more
Take my hand and just climb on board.....

Thanks for posting your merry-go-round music. Like mine, it has some bittersweet harmony, which keeps this from getting too sappy sounding... I liked that. The lyrics weren't quite as polished as the last song of yours (as far as fitting into the meter), but still very good. I enjoyed the fact that your melody "went up and down", nice touch.
Thanks for sharing this, and happy holidays!
