Description:
I was going for a retro kinda Ricky Nelson sound with this song. Did not fiddle too much with production but tried to just lay it down naturally in a basic arrangement.

Jenny Lee is back in town,
She finally dropped that other clown.
And if she comes to see me at the service station,
I will change her oil for free.

Jenny Lee don’t say a thing,
I was wrong to let you leave.
It doesn’t matter now, we can try again somehow,
Your tires look low and you need a radiator hose.

Tell your Daddy I’ll be good to you,
Tell your Momma that I’m gonna make your dreams come true.
Tell your brother with that Chevy Super 8,
He can bring it by on Friday for some discount brakes,
Or maybe a Slim Jim, and a tire a rotation, or a bag of Cheetos,
A pack of Cowboy reds.

Jenny Lee is back in town,
She pulled in yesterday to see if I was around.
I combed my hair, put the sign up on the door,
Me and Jenny got to see if we can love once more.

Yes I know that I was wrong,
I cried so many tears after you were gone.
But if you can understand, I made myself a better man,
I bought the lot next door for body work and so much more.

Tell your Daddy I’ll be good for you,
Tell your Momma that I’m gonna make your dreams come true.
Tell your brother with that Chevy Super 8,
He can bring it by on Friday for some discount brakes,
Or maybe a Slim Jim, and a tire rotation, a bag of Doritos,
A pack of Camel wides.

Jenny Lee is back in town.
She finally lost that other clown.
Jenny Lee is back in town.

Retro Ricky-ness &mdash 12/27/07 - 03:50:46 PM
Sure does have that old Rick (Don't Call Me Ricky) Nelson feel to it. But to complete it you'd have to double-track the vocal, add a bit of echo to the vocals and... call James Burton in for some of his tasty lead work. lol

As it stands, this sounds like a rock-steady Boss Hook tribute to that uncluttered era of rockabilly music that Nelson, among others, helped introduce to a wider audience.

You need to post your lyrics with your tunes, bro. I liked the little irony you inserted about offering premium garage services to Jenny Lee and her family, but without the lyrics it's hard to tell if it's done to ingratiate you with her family, or... just drum up some extra business... which would be even funnier. lol

John, this tune has a great retro feel. Tight sound and cool lyrics with your trademark rockin' vocal. Sounds like it is rolling off the stage at a sock hop, or blaring out the window of a 57 Chevy at the drive-in. Nice American Graffiti image - well done! -- Alan
