interesting... &mdash 09/16/04 - 12:06:30 PM
because the chords in the intro (and ending) are VERY Porcupine Tree, but the rest is only vaguely reminiscent of Ozric. And I LOVE both of those bands. I actually just missed Ozric Tentacles playing live in my hometown recently. But I digress... This is a cool piece. So many elements and textures. I think I like the drum and percussion elements best. I think if you split this into two songs, I could see those intro chords being accompanied by vocals--you'd have yourself a really nice progressive rock tune if you added some acoustic guitar as well. (Hence, the Porcupine Tree reference)
Aside from my rambling, I think this is really good.

interesting... &mdash 09/16/04 - 12:47:25 PM
Thanks Miss
The idea to split into 2 songs could be nice.
I will ask to SlimGirlfat if wants try to sing something (if she likes of course).
I don't think to guitar sound because i'm not able to play it.
Every time i try to do something with guitar it seems too bad to myself.
Btw i have had a lot of problems to mix all the drums, maybe i've used too
many tracks (6 for the drums), in fact my G4 was going overload.

Dial to comfort &mdash 09/16/04 - 10:23:41 PM
I was nicely dialed into a certain volume level then got
blasted about 3/5 of the way through. That is my only
concern with this otherwise nicely layered, evocative
compostition. Bravo.

Thanks rschletty
Maybe i see what you mean.
As i have told i have had some trouble to mix the drum parts.
On my Ipod for example, this song have a too much "dark" sound
and i cannot pump up the volume as i would :-)
Maybe i will try to re-mix again, or replace one or two drum tracks.

nice sound textures &mdash 09/17/04 - 09:20:18 AM
Your choice of sounds and combination of textures is
excellent in this piece.

You also have a good sense of pacing. This tune builds up
very nicely from the beginning, adding layers, quickening
the tempo.

The intensity builds until just before the mid-point, then
backs down a bit before building up again. I would have
liked that quiet part to have more "oomph" to create more
suspense, as it culminated in the loud section.

I agree with rschletty that the loud section is too loud; I
had to turn the volume down. I really liked the drum track
at that point, though. Very nice groove! Tasteful rhythms.

The "ramp down" after the loud section was a bit
anticlimactic, to my ears anyway.

This piece seems to be all about pacing. You did a great
job with the textures and rhythms. Maybe adjust the high-
and low-points of intensity a bit more, to create a better
flow.

Very nice tune -- good job!

nice sound textures &mdash 09/17/04 - 12:45:38 PM
Thanks a lot Cameron.
I will take your suggest about the loud sound. I will try to fix that part.
I have achieved the limit of my G4 processor (red bar on all the track)
so i think i have to cut off some tracks.
Maybe it's time to buy a G5 :-)

hey! &mdash 09/18/04 - 11:46:13 PM
I like the sonic development of the piece, and if in the context of listening while driving, I would say that it flows quite nicely. I listened to it through a pair of AKG K240 headphones and thought the dynamics were right on... did you already make the adjustments that were discussed above? I like this one a lot--8888. I would sing to it. (hint!)

thanks hand
i didn't make the adjustments yet. i'm working on other two tracks.
i'm glad if you want try to sing this tune.
I'have one with my voice (effected with "telephone line") but i don't like it.
I'm not so clever with my voice, or maybe i'm afraid to listen the results.
hey you have wonderful headphones. i have used an AKG in a studio and it
has an amazing sound.

I just LOVED this track! Amazing textures and it kind
of takes you where you don't expect to go.
Wonderful mix and I was especially fond of the build
towards the end. Very dynamic!

Great build but the moment of passion disappoints &mdash 10/02/04 - 07:10:12 PM
Excellent intro mood and sound choices. Nice
mesmerizing arpeggio grooves and haunting melody. The
production is minimalism par excellence, in the New Age
realm, with a haunting edge that creeps in half way thru.
the builds to the electric guitar break thru is very smooth
and subdued-exciting. But the "guitar" solo lacks the
energy and passion of the promise. The decrescendo and
fall back into the groove is equally smooth. Nice
recapitulation. Very interesting track.

Maybe next time i will ask to a "real" guitarist to put his
sound on my track.

This may be.... &mdash 03/03/05 - 02:48:08 PM
...the longest downtempo track I've heard so far.

And your imagination doesn't let up, the piece stays
interesting throughout.

I'll ditto the comment about the levels, but otherwise this
is top stuff!
