Queen Of Broken Hearts

Verse 1
Like a savage midnight hunter,
she goes prowling through the night
She's a raven haired beauty,
who will fill your soul with fright.
If she catches you unwary,
or you let your guard fall down.
You'll be just another victim,
one more jewel in her crown.

Chorus
She's the one who has no mercy,
she'll tear your heart apart.
She's the one you'ld gladly die for,
she's the queen of broken hearts.

Verse 2
She was once a gentle lady,
with a heart as pure as gold.
But she loved a roving gambler,
that's the story I've been told.
When she came upon her lover,
in another womans arms.
They say she vowed that she'ld get even,
and that night he bought the farm.

Chorus
She's the one who has no mercy,
she'll tear your heart apart.
She's the one you'ld gladly die for,
she's the queen of broken hearts.

Verse 3
Now I know that you are tempted,
by the beauty in her eyes.
But be careful when you listen,
for the things she says are lies.
She will take you on a journey,
from which you won't survive.
Where the angels in heaven,
cannot hear your mournful cries.

Chorus
She's the one who has no mercy,
she'll tear your heart apart.
She's the one you'ld glady die for,
she's the queen of broken hearts.

Repeat last line 3 times

Thanks you Feter
Glad you enjoyed this trip back to the past. I wasn't going to post this one because I didn't really like the sound on it, or the mix. But after reworking the mix earlier today, it started to sound a little better so I went ahead and put it out for everyone to hear.

This is another one of those early 90's songs I did on the reel to reel 8-track back then. I'm getting used to being able to do a lot more tracks than just 8 now on the Mac and I like it.

Anyway Feter, I'm glad this one hit the spot for you and thanks again for the kind words. Be well my friend.

The unfortunate things is we have all
met her. At least it feels that way some times. But then I guess the girls can say the same thing about the King of Broken Hearts now can't they. Hey, we believe in equal time for equal heartaches.

Thanks for dropping in for a listen Bob. Glad you enjoyed the beer at least. Have a great New Year me friend

Yeah Mark, and it was
probably at the same time too, if I have her pegged correctly. As a matter of fact, almost every guy here has been out with her at one time or another.

But ya know what, I've had a few of the girls here say they went out with a guy just like the "Queen". I guess he's know as the "King" of Broken Hearts.

Thanks for the kind words Mark. I'm happy to know you've enjoyed my work. I hope you have a wonderful and rewarding New Year.

Speeking of Haggard
I just heard an interview with him on "All things considered" I believe it was. He's back on the road and in the studio again. Got a new album coming out, if it's not out already.

Anyway, thanks for those very cool words Ben. I'm beginning to wonder if I really have a style, or if I just do whatever pleases me and let the stuff hit the fan just to see where it lands. Some of my songs seem to defy genre classification so I never know where to put them in the genre categories. It's just music that's all.

Again, I want to thank you for taking time to listen and for the kind words. Be well my friend and I hope you have a wonderful New Year.

: )
Well If I had to classify your album it would be classic country . I think you got a sound of your own for sure but its heavily influenced by old country , blues and rock . In the end your right it is just a wonderful blend the smears itself into just music but I have no problems with influences of the past creating and helping to mold the moment . Thats the wonderful gift of sound and especially music is you can create something new while holding hands with the past . That interview with Haggard rocked ! Peace to you to this new year man !

It's all just music,
and hopefully some of it is good music.

Thanks for the come back Ben. I guess in a way we all have our own style, and it's roots are in the lives we've lived and the music we've played in the past.

Be well and enjoy all the really great music out here in the land of Oz.

I like how you write your words
Using analogies is so effective in lyrics and you do this so well. Doesn't hurt to have a nice baritone type vocal especially doing Johnny Cash type lower vocals.

Way to go, very nice indeed to hear poetry in music. I think nothing tells a story like a good country song. And you do it here!

Thanks for sharing

Thanks Bill
Sometimes it's hard to come up with a story line that works in music, but Sometimes you get lucky and the pieces fall together for you. This was one of those times when it seemed to work out pretty well.

Thanks for the kind words Bill. They are very much appreciated. I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas and the New year turns out better than you'd hoped for.

Be well my friend and keep on pickin' that guitar.

I remember her too
...and you're quite right, there's a "King" out there for every "Queen", and they both leave musical odes to their damage behind them as they go. Hopefully they ultimately meet and wreak havoc on each other as karmic revenge for the highways of heartbreak!

Sorry I've missed so much music, Ed - I love your stuff and think you're one of MacJams brighter lights. This tune has a wonderfully earthy feel and vibe, echoing touches of timeless radio days and lost highways. I love the guitar! I'm gradually edging closer to strapping on my ol' Epiphone and trying out some guitar licks, but first I have to actually get some time to breathe!

One of the things I love about MJ is that we, as musicians, can wander wherever we like. Genres and categories are just hazy lines that don't really mean much so country crooners like you, hip-hop cats like DJ French Toast Benny and electropop headcases like yours truly can all shed the aforementioned labels and just make, enjoy and live the music.
sloparts said 3606 days ago (January 8th, 2008)
Unless a person has been very fortunate,
they've not only met, they've been the victim of either the King or Queen as the case may be. At least everyone who is still breathing anyway. The only positive thing is that sooner or later, Karma catches up to all of us. even the K & Q. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall to watch that one. Nah, not really.

As you can tell, sometime I ask questions and then sometimes we answer them. And I want to warn you, I listen to the voices and 8 out of 10 times they say "Don't shoot". To which I say, "Why ? "

You are so right about the community here at MacJams. No matter what genre or type of music you try to do, there's always someone here that will listen honestly and offer help in the form of suggestions that make sense. There are others that just listen and let you know they like what you trying to do. But mostly they all try to give you encouragement and acceptance. I guess that's because we are all in the same boat together. We're all trying to find better ways to communicate feeling through music. It's the common denominator here on MacJams, and also at a few other music posting sites set up by musicians, for musicians.

I know time is always hard to find to do all the things we want to do Rik, but I can't wait for you to find the time to take out the old Epiphone and get to playing again. Let me know when you do, I'll come to the party and have a cold one over some good music with you.

Thanks for the great words Rik, always a pleasure to have you drop in. Be well my friend.
