Description:
Usual

Lyrics:
A-ha

V 1

To make the sounds, you need to get around
(But) when he turns to meet her, her hands are tied
But by way of virtue, she carries the key to this town.

Don't carry the books and I don't read the rules,
Just want some and not all.

MID

Adjust the feeling that you don't even care
Set an example that you promise to wear,
Always someone there to listen to you
But don't let yourself fall.

V 2

A second chance, don't need it anymore
But when he turns to meet her, her hands are tied,
She carries the key to this town.

CH 1

She never could see sun in the rain (don't don't I don't promise)
It's all more or less just the same (this is your chance to)
If only you'd open your eyes (to, to, together, there is forever)
Cause there's a world out there wanting found.

V 3

To make the sounds, you need to get around
(But) when he turns to meet her, her hands are tied
She carries the key to this town.
(Your) wasting my time, wrapped up in feelings (don't you try to look things over x 2),
But when each hour goes by, I can't help but think,
That you're slipping, slipping away.

CH 2

She never could see sun in the rain (don't don't I don't promise)
It's all more or less just the same (this is your chance to)
If only you'd open your eyes (to, to, together, there is forever)
Cause there's a world out there wanting found.

MID 2

Adjust the feeling that you don't even care
Set an example that you promise to wear,
Always someone there to listen to you
But don't let yourself fall.

REPEAT

CH 3

She never could see sun in the rain (don't don't I don't promise)
It's all more or less just the same (this is your chance to)
If only you'd open your eyes (to, to, together, there is forever)
Cause there's a world out there wanting found.

REPEAT

OUTRO

I don't promise
It's your chance to
Together this is forever
World out there wanting found

Wow .. &mdash 12/29/07 - 06:30:36 AM

.. that took me back. 2nd Beeb session? Sounds like a 'Catch' number?: Ian drumming, you singing, me on guitars (and a bit of backing vox)- at the time Mr.K had switched to *just* doing the production, and you sequenced a bass sample of him?. Loved doing this one live... though that harmony at the end always made me nervous. :o)

A great song IMO (but I'm biased a bit), lovely melodies, vibe, groove and lyrics. One of my favourites of that time you wrote.

CATCH &mdash 12/29/07 - 07:39:09 AM
I have amended the artwork as rightly so, this is a Catch not a Steck track. Yep, this was from the second batch of BeeB recordings.

I converted this into the digital domain a few weeks ago and when going through some old tapes last night, remembered that I had already done so. Lyrics to be posted later today.

cool toon! &mdash 12/30/07 - 09:09:48 AM
fantastic! Brilliant! Great song all around on every level. Lyrics, vocal delivery, composition, arrangement, performance. Sounds a little like the really hip love child of Joe Jackson and XTC. Thanks for sharing this one!

Mellow &mdash 12/30/07 - 11:06:26 AM
@11eyes,

This one of my more mellow compositions.

We had three backing vocalists (plus myself) which really helped to add certain level of ambiance.

I would think of this much more as 'an album track' rather than 'a single' as it were.
