Yes - The soul lives on... &mdash 12/30/07 - 07:09:23 AM
You have a slightly oriental twist to this with those percussion loops, and also some in the way you play the guitar. You move your fingres across the frets as you here born with the guitar on you lap:). Impressive as always!
I think I notice a small fragment of 'take the last train to Clarksville' in here as well... Was that intentional/symbolic or is it just my vivid imagination:)

Interesting &mdash 12/30/07 - 09:32:19 AM
It never once crossed my mine. But I just lived in the Nashville area and a dear friend who is also a tenant of house I have there not to recently came from there and stayed there for a few years. That is the Clarksville Tn one. Note sure if the Last Train To Clarksville in meant to be the Tennessee one?
Thanks for the post [ Reply to This ]
Great rhythm &mdash 12/30/07 - 08:25:14 AM
and the guitar playing is what we've now come to expect from you. It's like travelling through some exotic countryside... the percussion has that same beat that the spanish get when they double clap and I love that, cheers M [ Reply to This ]
Thanks &mdash 12/30/07 - 09:38:54 AM
Yes, it is a Latin derivative, I slowed down the loop, it felt to uncomfortable with the fingerpicking. I use an open tuning. Tuning the 6st E to D, the 2nd string to A and the 1st to D.
Not that you asked about the open tuning, but lately I have not typed what a bunch of my open tuning are. So I thought just I would interject that. But this particular open tuning allows for some fun acoustic jamming I think anyway. [ Reply to This ]
Smooth movements.. &mdash 12/30/07 - 10:28:17 AM
over those guitar strings, Bill. I am really enjoying this. You certainly have produced an excellent sound here. The quality of the recording seems so perfect, even and warm. You got the talent, and clearly you got the soul.
Happy New Year. [ Reply to This ]
lovely guitar piece &mdash 12/30/07 - 10:47:56 AM
This is a really nice piece, the guitar sounds great against the backing percussion. This reminds me a little of Bill Frisell's acoustic work on the album 'Gone like a Train'
Nice!

that there is bodies (you) that appreciate the 60's. Though I am not sure really what era this is patterned out of. I think there was some nice allmann bro jammin and the list goes on.
thanks much Feter! [ Reply to This ]
Real Nice Bill, &mdash 12/30/07 - 08:45:16 PM
Soulful playing. Seems the rhythm inspired some great finger movements. The piece inspired toe tapping, hand jiving here. Love the sound of your strings. What are you using these days? [ Reply to This ]
I am using &mdash 12/30/07 - 09:10:27 PM
DAddario, but only because they were on sale. I like using em but I ware out strings so fast that I just don't want to use expensive ones. Maybe it's my genetic makeup. I have to learn not to sweat too much.
Thanks for the comment and stopping by enjoyed your music as well.

Moves along... &mdash 12/31/07 - 09:15:08 AM
...quite nicely. Your playing's always so fine...
A very, very nice, positive tribute to Ms. Bhutto. [ Reply to This ]
really nice &mdash 12/31/07 - 12:25:49 PM
Well I like the sort of string pad part that is under the guitar. Really nice playing and a great guitar sound.
I am also learning about Logic and I thought I'd note some technical notes that are just engineering observations. I took a close listen to this and there seems to be skip or something at 40 seconds in, an edit that is sounding a little "off". And later on a section between 51 seconds and 54 seconds where the overall volume dips down pretty dramatically and for what I can tell, sort of arbitrarily. Maybe you were using an automation curve there that is a little inelegant. [ Reply to This ]
Yes, &mdash 12/31/07 - 12:59:10 PM
I think that is one problem I had for sure. I tried to take out multiple dot automation curves (best I can do to describe it.and nearly lost my sanity cause I lost the file. I desperately didn't want to destroy what took me so long to work on and trash it. But I lost my main audio file, the one with all the picking. So I found an aif file but again couldn't get out the dots that went down in sound. I wanted to lower a section a bit but couldn't alter it once I lost the main file.
Logic is a monster to work with trying to remember all the stuff. And if you not careful you can loose everything sort of speak. It has a learning curve that is for sure. The last one I did was in garage band while I'm trying to lick my wounds from Logic 8.
It can be a monster to work with. All respects for somebody that knows that program. Thanks Jim for being so knowledgeable on Logic. [ Reply to This ]
I'm certainly no Logic expert! &mdash 12/31/07 - 05:33:07 PM
No end of frustration with that program. Seems like I am always finding some way for things to get messed up in Logic, the more I try to do! LOL!!!! I tried setting the volume by riding the fader on the track in the "write" mode, but it's pretty hard to control and you have to keep your hand pretty steady on the mouse. I was thinking of getting one of those controllers that have an actual fader control but I just don't want to keep buying things. Maybe using the "Save As Copy" command would be a good idea to keep from losing things, but while in the creative flow, it's just one of those things you can't remember to do! [ Reply to This ]
nice! &mdash 12/31/07 - 02:15:10 PM

This has a lot of body & a lot of soul. totally enjoyed the ride. [ Reply to This ]

Excellent &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:21:37 AM
Your playing here is outstanding, and it is a great recording, capturing the spirit of the song, I think. The guitar sounds really nice, and the percussion works perfectly. A song to take you somewhere else. Nicely done. Peace. [ Reply to This ]
And here I am... &mdash 01/06/08 - 12:21:41 PM
...trying to catch up a bit on MacJams listening, while debating in my mind the purchase of a beginner's guide to DADGAD...
On this one, Bill, I really like the overall feel of it. It has a nice swing and a nice modal character... It fits in perfectly with the sort of acoustic guitar playing that fills my hard drive...
A curiosity question: have you tried Elixir strings? More expensive, but I've had good luck with them holding up longer than others...
Ed [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Ed &mdash 01/07/08 - 10:44:12 AM
I just bought Elixer's a few days ago, and used them as overlays in the Old & New vr.2 tune.
I've used them before, and maybe I'll continue to use them if I notice that they hold their sound longer. Maybe I just didn't pay attention to that before
