Description:
This is a light musical trip on a most picturesque train journey, through the Mountains, hills and flowery valleys from Bolivia to the Andes and Peru. I could imagine flower and fruit sellers in colourful dress waiting to sell to the passengers. I've never been there and never will, but I can dream. Hope you take the trip with me and like it.

well done Moviz. You are a very musical person.I could never make up something this good just a computer.Really happy upbeat song.Made me forget that it's about 5 degrees F here for a few minutes! [ Reply to This ]
Hi Mark &mdash 01/03/08 - 11:17:05 AM
Happy New Year. Yes I had to do a happy tropical song to get myself over the winter blues LOL, but will it make you feel better to know that you are warmer than us in the UK, 'cause at the moment it's only 2 degrees F and 0 degrees in other parts of the UK. Oh, and with your musical expertise and expression I'm sure you could make up music on a keyboard. I can't play guitar all that well, but I'd never even played a keyboard. Some of the chords just seem to translate 'naturally' and after that it's a sense of harmony, which of course you have, Regards M [ Reply to This ]

liked this Jack and that it shifted the gloom for a while, we're suffering the same in UK, though we always think of Sun in your part of the world, cheers M [ Reply to This ]

painting with other colo(u)rs... &mdash 01/03/08 - 05:42:42 PM
First off, this is a fun upbeat tune. I like the choice of instruments, it has a train-like rhythm, and a warm-sunshine feel. However, I must say it didn't give me visions of Peru at all. Now, although like you, I will probably never get there, I've listened to a modest amount of Bolivian/Peruvian folk music (live and recorded.) So I will politely say that other than the pan-pipe-like lead instrument, the other instruments and the harmonies didn't sound South American to me. But that's only a critique of your description, not the music. The music (especially with the choir sounds) almost sounded Enya-like (which is a compliment, BTW!) Very warm-Summer-day-ish. I enjoyed this a lot. And I promise not to tell you how cold it is here this Winter in chilly Southern California... let's just say the music suited the weather very nicely (smirk) :-)

Nice to &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:19:25 AM
see you around these parts Drak, you must have come by train LOL, but it's me that feels I've 'arrived' having you 'fave' my song;I love that. Ok The music isn't perfectly performed in the indigenous style, but I just wanted a 'feel' for that part of the world. I wanted a nice title and after studying South American maps for a good part of the morning, I was going to call it San Rosa to Peru; and a few other romantic sounding ones. Snag is that for a lot of the nice names, you Americans liked them too and named towns the same LOL. Hence the title now as it stands. Well I guess I learned something from your comments, but so did you, since you now know that there was originally a 'U' in 'Coloured' LOLOL(Joke).
I'm more than pleased that you liked this Drak and I thank you again for calling, regards M [ Reply to This ]
South America &mdash 01/03/08 - 07:40:09 PM
There is a goodness in everyone, it is up to us to whether we want to recognize it or not. I choose to see the beauty and goodness of ewvery culture on earth and by listening to this I know you do too. This song awakens images of children playing with great vistas of South American mountains behind them and the rainbow colored garb you speak of, the peruvian flutes, the excellent south american cuisine, very nice Maurice! Hi Tom, &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:24:52 AM
I'm really pleased you got those vibes and images; they are just the ones I was hoping to invoke in this song. Yes I'm a hopeless empath and love all people; it's just the ways of some that I don't care for. I know you have a strong liking for things Spanish/Latin, so that's why this appeals to you, regards M [ Reply to This ]
You gotta love it when you go &mdash 01/03/08 - 08:46:19 PM
south of the border, at least for us here in the States it's south. And the further south you go the better it gets. Right up until you get to Antarctica. You guys think your cold, try McMurdo in July.
Nice pleasant journey you took us on Maurice, and the scenery is just awesome. Thanks for sharing.

You &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:56:53 AM
sound like a man of experience Ed, so you might have travelled on this very train LOL. It always looks to be a fascinating country with great extremes in every sense.... as for the cold of McMurdo... I'll leave that for others, cheers M [ Reply to This ]
This is... &mdash 01/03/08 - 10:37:52 PM
...a long way from home for you, Maurice. I like the chug-a-chug of the train throughout and you have really restrained the melody, keeping it very simple and happy and "accessible." There is a good feeling here. (I tend to agree with Ed about the "sound" of So. Am. music, but I also think what you've written and the spirit of a colourful atmosphere is very well stated in your music.)
Thanks for such an upbeat start to the new year.
Peace.

sunny &mdash 01/04/08 - 01:52:41 AM
Hey Moviz,
This is a really sweet song, very sunny, happy and romantic. I certainly get the ramblin open air truck in the Andes vibe form it. I particularly like the rolling toms at 3/4 the way through. Nice drums throughout actually. The "ah-ah" vocal samples might be a little overdone. But that is probably because I have heard them so much. I had them on a old Roland guitar synth I had and used them all the time....
Totally enjoyed!
Philip [ Reply to This ]
Hi Phillip.. &mdash 01/04/08 - 07:11:20 AM
All the best for the year ahead and thanks for calling in here. I know what you mean about the 'Ahhs', but they do help to get that slightly laboured effect of a train chugging uphill( I used them on another train song I did also) and the 'added' drums give the speeding effect, but nice that you liked it and got the atmosphere I wanted to create, cheers M [ Reply to This ]
Another great track &mdash 01/04/08 - 07:18:07 AM
You have a great musical sensibility and you produce some very original and interesting pieces. This has great sounds, some lovely melodies, and nice percussion. The beat carries the whole thing along. I also like the tomtoms - I think they add nice color. It's early in the morning here, and outside it's snowy and cold, but after listening to this, in my head it's somewhere else much warmer! Nicely done. Thanks for sharing. Peace. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks David... &mdash 01/04/08 - 10:58:59 AM
for those nice comments. You're right my tracks are quite varied... a bit like my life LOL i.e, Jack of all trades, master of none. I'm pleased you like the simple melodies too; all variations on a theme I suppose, thanks again Cheers M [ Reply to This ]

enjoyable listen Maurice. Chugs along very nicely and some lovely melodies. I am particularly impressed with the production, all the sounds clear and panned well.

a nice tune &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:08:48 PM
smooth production and all in all a unMoviz kind of song. But very nice, a tad too nice;-)....Alas, not everything in this world is dark, and certainly not this frisky little stepper. [ Reply to This ]
Hi JB &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:49:07 PM
Glad you called in and let this little song brighten your day. I think I needed a bit of brightening up after an Xmas, spent imobile and in pain LOL, so I thought I'd take a train ride, Cheers M [ Reply to This ]
I used to... &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:41:58 PM
...listen to this band, Urabamba (among others), who performed music of the Andes. Just so wonderful. Sometimes you hear bands from those areas of the world playing in the streets/subways here in NYC.
This gives me the same serene, warm feeling inside. Thanks, Maurice. [ Reply to This ]
That &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:57:22 PM
very nice to know that my music did that and I'm glad to know that some Andean bands sound similar since I was led to believe I'd made a faux pas with my musical geography. Really pleased you like this and I just caught that you downloaded the Flamenco (I love Flamenco) and that it was in perfect sync. On my introductory beat there is a castanet type click, which I almost deleted, but thought better of it because of the Spanish sound it gives. Almost like the heels of the Flamenco Dancers, Thanks again Bob, cheers M [ Reply to This ]
BTW: &mdash 01/04/08 - 06:51:18 PM
1) I downloaded this. Think it's really charming. Cool artwork, too.
2) I was importing a Paco de Lucia (flamenco) cd just as I clicked on your tune. The first tune had just been imported...so it started to play about 4 beats into your tune and was perfectly in synch. I said: "WOW!!!! He plays FLAMENCO, too!!!????" and quickly checked the credits. Funny moment.
Not to say that you COULDN'T play like Paco, of course, M...
;)
Thanks, again. [ Reply to This ]

yeah! &mdash 01/05/08 - 01:49:46 PM
I can feel the rails under me, the Peruvian pipes, the marimbas so big it takes 4 people to play it! You've captured the feel here... [ Reply to This ]

YOu always have a way to warm up a room with a nice happy song! Me on the other hand are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Everytime I try to write something up beat It comes out dark. Thanks for sharing! [ Reply to This ]
Well &mdash 01/05/08 - 06:14:05 PM
we can't all be the same can we and while I try to write a meaningful song it comes out lighthearted LOL. You'll just have to set out to do a dark song and it will come out happy. Half the time I tell myself that I'm happy when I'm not, but then it seeps into my subconscious and my subconscious believes me. Glad you liked my little song anyway and that it brightened you up, Happy New Year, and best regards M [ Reply to This ]
Not sure &mdash 01/05/08 - 06:39:33 PM
if this sounds Bolivia to Peru or not but it sounds great and certainly conjures up all sorts of imagery! Sorry for the late comment - been rather busy recently. All the best for 2008 Maurice.

really enjoyed the trip. There are little bits of Asian influence that creep in that only goes to show that we live in one big musical world. [ Reply to This ]

you enjoyed the ride Bud and I suppose there is a little Asian at one point (maybe Balinese with the gongs), I heard it myself, though it wasn't intentional of course, regards M [ Reply to This ]

Light mood indeed in this one Maurice. It reminded me a little of the music to a 10-15 year old computer game (Legend of Kyrandia). Guess it was the pipes doing that. You brought a lighter mood my way with this tune, and I needed that tonight!
Thanks my friend:) [ Reply to This ]

Villa Lobos &mdash 01/09/08 - 07:43:20 PM
Lovely! I used to live in Peru (40 years ago!), and this does evoke a very general kind of association with the music of that part of the world for me, and it very much feels like we're on a train. The opening reminds me of a Villa Lobos piece, The Little Train of the Caipira (Bachianas Brasileiras #2)... do you know it? If not, I strongly recommend it!
Well done! [ Reply to This ]
Nice to &mdash 01/10/08 - 06:35:51 AM
see you here Clark and that you think this music is compatible/symbolic with/of that part of the world, no matter how generally. I will look up the piece of music you recommend too, as I haven't heard it yet, Thank you very much for listening and for your kind comment. I do appreciate it, regards M [ Reply to This ]

Very pleasant here &mdash 01/12/08 - 01:21:05 PM
I am ready now, lets see how much for that ticket. Opps got to pay for the whole family. I guess I am out going there to. But this is really the next best thing. I know that many people I bet there have that gentle attitude like in your music. I love the short staccato voices you supply and your melodic sense is very noticeable throughout many of your tunes. Your use of the Vibs at the end are quite strikingly good. Also, what I think is apparent in so much of the music of today is the happiness feel. You bring in so much of your music the happy happy sound. I think Emerald the cook says that alot. But happy, happy is what your bring. And I hope it is infectious to the current music of today, so more joy in music can be spread.
Thanks for putting that precious element in at MJ. If one is not very happy coming into your tune they have to come out with a better attitude towards life I think.
WAy go to! [ Reply to This ]

I have not only taken the real trip but I was born in Peru. I must say this is a very nice piece of music. Maybe romanticizing a little through the power of art, yet not so far from the real feeling. Very good man!
