Description:
This is the first song I have shared with MacJams that includes my singing. For Christmas, my brother surprised me with the equipment I needed to record by myself..WOW...Although I am a little apprehensive of your responses, I hope you will enjoy it. This song is dedicated with many thanks to my little brother. He continues to consistently encourage me, and has helped me so much to be able to work on and share my music.

so not only can you invent/play one gushingly expressive piano piece after another, but you can write a sweet strong lyric, and dang you can sing sweetly too! :-) What a generous and helpful brother you have, he allows us ALL to enjoy your singing too, so give him my thanks as well.
As far as the music goes, a nice, pretty song structure, words fit well, recorded piano sounds a little bit muffled, singing is clear, and the drum track is too repetitive and sounds like a metronome... I'd get rid of it and just have your singing and piano. Is that a recording of you playing piano, or do you now have MIDI hooked up to record your keyboard straight into the computer?

Long time no talk...We need to catch up! Thank you so much for enjoying this and for the kind comments. Big step for me to sing for critics. ha ha....such a weinie I am! Anyway, this was my first attempt at using this equipment and will take me awhile to learn what to push and what not to push. The drums were on the first track with the piano, so cannot be removed. I appreciate that so much!! I am very fortunate that in a family of five of us kids, we all are very close and get along so well! My brother and I share alot of the same likes and dislikes about everything and I was more than blessed when he just showed up with all this stuff. I still tear up about it. ...sweet sweet song. I think davisamerica has just about said it all. This is just beautiful, Gail. It is peaceful, the lyrics are so personal, the arrangement is simple and does not at all obscure your truly lovely voice. (I agree with the comment about the percussion track...no need. Let the piano do it for you.) I would love to add some strings to this. (Do you have a lead sheet with some chords?) Piano sounds very nice to my ears. You either got yours tuned or it's a good plug-in. Either way, perfect. ... I am now going to listen again.

This is a beautiful song, full of warmth and feeling.
I listened last night, just before I went to bed, and I couldn't get it off of my mind. The subject reminds me in some way of Daniel by Elton John although the music is not similar.
The piano playing fits perfectly.

that hit me is the rhythm and blues type of style as it started. Then I think of the GREAT singers of that area, like the coasters, the miracles, but the great great songs. And that is the type of feeling when I hear this tremendously moving tune. What a surprise!!!, i didn't have a clue that you could sing like this. Wow I love listening to really good music and I sure get that tingly feeling when I hear this. But it is a double dipper. Infectious singing and infectious playing. That goes in the realm of Nate KIng Cole etc.

I had to go to itunes and listen to "Tears On My Pillow" by Little Anthony and The Imperials". A doo wap feel.
That is the era that hits me and though Little Anthony is a male, you sing like a female version but totally a female sound. It is a amazing what comes out of macjams. Your definitely one of them
Plain and simple Gail, you DO have the gift!
To me that means radio ready. whether you get nationally known is irrelevant, you certainly have the sound to do so.

nice to hear you singing as well as playing - you have a lovely voice. Although I would agree that the drum track is a little bit repetitive and perhaps a tiny bit loud, I didn't mind it really, and it didn't spoil this wonderful song. A great start for the new year!

How moving and delicate. Honest and real. My jaw dropped in awe and i am just amazed at your tender vocal delivery.
This is a very personal song and i feel the love in the delivery.
The chords are interesting at times not the typical changes but still creating a very smooth melody.
Upon second listen I imagined a string section with an arrangement that only u could do justice. It would sneak in real carefully at your my brother...and then carry the melody on forever into the longest slowest fade

You have a very smooth voice. Comes across really easy, making an enjoyable listening experience. The only thing I'd suggest is to find a way to give the piano more presence, especially in the beginning before you start singing... just a bit of unsure air as the piano is set back and nothing else takes the lead for a few seconds... As Timothy can imagine a string section, I can hear a rough blues guitar ripping the surface here and there to make a little contrast to the calm and sweet overall feeling.

I'm definitely not the first one to open the comment with 'wow' - and I have a feeling I won't be the last. But the truth is, this deserves all the 'wow's it has gotten and then some!
The piano is pretty beautiful - and by 'pretty beautiful' I of course mean absolutely gorgeous - and your singing, well, it's great.
The only thing I can suggest is to bring that little RnB beat down just a tiny bit, just to let the piano take even more space - it deserves all the space it can get!
