Description:
a song about bordum and inspiration
Lyrics:
ive been burning bridges lately
every sense my sister died last spring
and ive been searching through the ashes baby
looking for that precious thing
seconds become minutes
and the minutes just fly away
everything becomes so relative
when i lay you down this way
oh man the trees look so pretty
my wife she must confess
the light is a bitter golden
as i lay her down and take off her dress
i close my eyes when i kiss her
the light is slowly fading
i hear it start to rain
i can feel your pleasure
and i can feel your pain
sometimes i just become you
we are like a rolling train
oh this road is so straight and narrow
the wind is all but t gone
lay her down, lay her down on clean sheets
help her sing her song
ive been through the hunger
some years they were very very dry
i am going to keep on fucking you till the day i die
ive been burning bridges lately
and ive been searching through the ashes baby
looking for that precious thing
house full of things we've made
desk full of bills we've payed
dont think im getting out of bed this morning
we have books on tape
we had colored tv
but all i ever see is you

Definitely not a kid's song, but man, this is good. You paint a the story so well with your words that I am surprised the music is good enough for it, but it's even better than that. Great sounds, great mix.

Great ( jaggeresque)vocal , and i really fantastic mix - i love the interplay of the spoken and sung vocal. Really inspired and unhinged... hide the scissors. [ Reply to This ]

this is a great story you've crafted here. The lyrics are very powerful and, in another genre, would be considered very "Iron and Wine" with their imagery. By putting them on this template, however, you really pick up the tragic reality that this guy is his own worst enemy. Gentle, romantic interpretations of what he sees in her, but the cold reality seeps through. To me, his desperation drives him while at the same time tainting his ideals.
i may be reading too much into it, or missing it all together -- just wanted to let you know that I found this refreshing in it's complexity and appreciate the work you put into it. From the metering to the arc of the story -- you have a real gift for it and I can't wait to listen to more of you.
Peace,

Tim- you are one of the few here that I would say have their own signature sound... vocal and guitar.
Like what you've done here- really cool how you mixed in the comments (like in parentheses). More than anything I like how you brought the song to a close... very nice! [ Reply to This ]

..fine song. Well played, mixed and performed. I like it's general authenticity in the lyrics and feel.
Definite jagger-esque vocal thing going on at times.. but not always and the vocals and lyrics are very well done... different delivery styles worked.
I too thought the contrast with the spoken part worked very well and was innovative.. I also liked the arrangement having that slower paced swinging outro starting 03:55.
