Would love to see the lyrics &mdash 01/07/08 - 06:16:56 PM
Interesting twist on this old nursery rhyme. Another fantastic vocal performance by Amanda.... you guys make a great team.
Regarding the mix- there seems to be something amiss (or maybe uncomfortable is a better term) but I can't put my finger on it. I'm thinking it's how the different vocal tracks are panned.... for instance, I think the main vocal should be centered more with the backing vox more to the side. It seems like it's coming at me from every side but the middle. Then again, I'm listening on earbuds and may be tripping...I'll dig out the good cans and try again.
I really like the song and the concept- musically it's very solid (you are a bass god, after all) and as you said, thumpin'.

Learned my lesson... &mdash 01/08/08 - 06:04:59 AM
Never, ever listen to critique using cheap headphones! Much better on the good set. Whew! For whatever reason there seemed to be much more separation between tracks on the ear buds... [ Reply to This ]

Mother Hubbard was quite a mutha.
Fun tune. really cool vocal production ideas - really kept me glued throughout. "She started livin' in a fairy tale" - that line really shines. That single clear voice emerging from the effected layers - that was a high point for me.
good old fashioned nursery rhymes exposed children to the dangers of gravity, you know, babies in cradles falling from trees, eggmen falling off walls etc. I'm glad to see the addition of sex and drugs to the nursury rhyme educational agenda. [ Reply to This ]
