My great-niece Mikaela and her friend Meghan spent a couple nights here in Brooklyn at the end of the year. The two teenagers (one just turned 16, the other soon to do the same) decided they wanted to record a song. I dusted off an old soundtrack and together we knocked out some lyrics for it ... this being the result. Next thing you know they were calling friends and playing it to them over their cell phones, which I thought was pretty cute : >

I love to hear tunes from special cultures that I when younger occasionally passed through, though not female. I remember the high school band, a bit of the cliquishness I know affected me. But a great background to have that high school band sound feel.
I just thought this tune came from their hearts. In a special way it was even more precious that totally paid singers, because this is a "Im in that culture" type of thing. Seems so up front in the feeling of emotional value. This type of thing is so important in that time period, so much so.
What a terrific way to express this. And the great thing I think is that they got a big kick out of it. Very glad I ran into this cultural - american sounding gem !
