You two combine well. Your keys are so smooth I almost thought I was listening to Spyro Gyra. Just and I was relaxing to the keyboard groove Glenn's guitar comes in and the jam takes off, very nicely mixed. Enjoyed every bit!
Thanks

Bill, one of my all time fav's. SG always seem to re-invent themselves every album. A trait I find admirable for an instrumental group. Glad you enjoyed this [ Reply to This ]
Smooooth ! &mdash 01/13/08 - 08:22:21 PM
Conjures up the image of some dude at a bar, checkin out the local tasties, muttering his old faithful come on " EH...HOW YOU DOOIN'" ...........Very tasty arrangement and seamless production.Very jazz like blues. Thanks for sharing. Gerry. [ Reply to This ]
This is outstanding &mdash 01/13/08 - 09:30:34 PM
What musicianship! Great keyboard and guitar playing, and lovely changes. What makes it particularly intriguing is the changeup when the guitar kicks. Just when you think it's safe to go in the water...This is also beautifully produced - great sounds, and a terrific mix. I like the space in the mix, and the balance between the instruments. Very nicely done. Peace. [ Reply to This ]

Cozy &mdash 01/14/08 - 12:18:16 AM
Has that tasty Bob James flavor to it. Transported to a cozy club with great banquettes. The vibe is consistent down to the groovilicious phase shifted 80's guitar leads. The playing is really strong. Good stuff. [ Reply to This ]

smurf?? &mdash 01/14/08 - 04:23:17 PM
Estella, the original working title was something more macabre. But since there were no images on Google search for smurf autopsy :-) (thank God), I opted out for a lighter moniker. Appreciate you checkin it out! [ Reply to This ]

playing. i love that Rhodes sound, don't know why but I keep thinking Jan Hammer and Jeff Beck. really cool tune. [ Reply to This ]
luv hammer &mdash 01/14/08 - 08:05:00 PM
but Beck used to play with a guy named Max Middleton. he used one of those suitcase rhodes that panned vibrato in stereo. think 'blow by blow', Max is one of my all time fav key guy
thx for stopping by Michael [ Reply to This ]

to always be knocking on your door, to me that's a testment to the great musical beds you produce, not to mention the outstanding keyboard work. Glenn steps up with a smoking performace. It's a blast to play on a KTB song, right Glenn? And nice movement on the mixing of the guitars. [ Reply to This ]

me blush Z. Big ditto re: Glenn's mix. The panning creates that multiple solo'ist vibe. [ Reply to This ]

I loved the stuff he did with Beck-this is some great playing by both keys and guitar.I need to listen to this several times.Extremely well done.(If you've never heard the Beck song "Situation" check it out.Nasty guitar solo and sublime Rhoads playing.) [ Reply to This ]

From the very start ... &mdash 01/17/08 - 01:18:58 PM
... this was going to be excellent, and there's noo disappointment on the ride. I really love this style, which I associate mainly with Steely Dan (shows how shallow my jazz experience is really, doesn't it?!). Love your keyboard playing John, and Glenn's leads are a delight. Nobody's mentioned the drums and bass so far - really well done in that department ... just keeps driving it all along with some interesting little twists and turns, never losing a beat.
Love this one!

Neil, you are too generous with you Dan reference. I would kill to sound like that. Appreciate the listen and taking the time to comment [ Reply to This ]
Steely Dan &mdash 01/20/08 - 11:34:25 AM
This is so cool that you said this as I really love Steely Dan and thought this sounded like them as well. I listen to them a lot and really love the guitar work by the different guitarists that have played with them over the years. Becker, Carlton, Baxter... [ Reply to This ]

Love that toto almost beginning &mdash 01/17/08 - 11:10:10 PM
a terrific jazz feel here, love those kick drums and how much depth you got of that. Sounds like it was mixed in Logic Pro or something to get that pro sounding fee. But you never know, amazing things can be done in GB. But your really achieving some very high pro sounds here. Good use of alterations to ear to ear, back and forth. Mix quite well as for as I can tell. All the instruments seem spot on.
A fusion, blues sound that sure sounds top notch to me. Love how the bass bounces and the list goes on and on.
Impressed! [ Reply to This ]
thanks &mdash 01/18/08 - 05:54:22 PM
Bill, I value that coming from you. One of the best things, was how easy it was to put this together with Glenn. I think we traded files 2-3 times to get there. [ Reply to This ]

Keyboard &mdash 01/22/08 - 12:17:14 PM
The keyboard solo is really great. Reminds me of Chick Corea and Return to Forever.
Guitar solo complements the keyboard solo nicely. Very Pink Floyd. All you need is some guy with an English accent making comments as you play.
An awesome track. Bluesy and aggressive at the same time. I like the way the solos lead into each other. [ Reply to This ]
i like that &mdash 01/24/08 - 07:13:24 PM
And what a tasty Blue rebellion it is! &mdash 01/26/08 - 11:40:16 AM
This song sounds great. And it's incredible what this site allows you to do with collabs. From your replies here it sounds like the back and forth recording was very painless. The wonders of digital recording.
The whole song is really nice - the feel, the sounds and the playing. The keys and guitar sound excellent throughout, and one part that really jumped out at me on first listen was the kind of "out" guitar that starts at 2:56, it grabbed my ear and grooved my socks off. [ Reply to This ]

mixed genres &mdash 01/30/08 - 12:17:20 PM
(I missed this one!) I have always loved your bluesy jazz compositions, and you seem to come up with a unique blend of elements all the time. Your songs are both soothing and hmm, sexy, with the right imagination haha! You have really perfected this art in this unique genre. It kinda crosses into art music yet swings you back into some jazzy or bluesy realm just when the mind is about to wonder to psychedelic territory. Your bass and piano playing are mesmerizing.
Listening to this, I can imagine how a mellow jazz vocal can give it a little twist. It's quite challenging I would say, but what's being a musician if not trying to break new ground and trying something different.
Oh, and is that Glenn shredding it in the background? He's awesome! Hmmm, makes me reminisce of our earlier collab :-) [ Reply to This ]
reminiscent &mdash 01/31/08 - 12:41:32 PM
Leon, if the mood ever strikes for a challenge and you'd like some raw tracks to play with just drop a note. There's plenty of space in the tune for some jazz vocal musings. Thx for stoppin by and giving it a listen. I appreciate your ear on all matters musical. [ Reply to This ]

i am with my sweetie on a club's dark dance floor while this is played while strobing lights add to the intensity. the synth at 1:40 and the soaring guitar is a wonderful combo. i got some jeff beckish flavors from this - ya'll know how to Make a Mood. nice percussion pannage. classy thru and thru!
