Description:
For my next album, I had the idea to create a 'fil rouge', a kind of repeating hook that would stitch all the songs together, and in a way become a theme running the album. Just a short track, in many variations...

That's what I intend to do with the track 'stay with me'. I uploaded my own vocal version a couple of weeks ago, but also asked some very talented ladies if they were interested to do their version of the song as well. One of them is the brilliant Lady Goosebumps & Spinal Shivers, AKA Alannah.

What's left to say? She's got one of the most distinctive female voices I've ever heard in my life, and I'm a big fan of hers from the very moment I listened... Thanks, Alannah, for lending your artistry!

I slightly re-orchestrated the original track with background strings. Alannah wrote the lyrics.

I will not reveal the two other names for now, so stay tuned for the coming weeks (yes, I'm a marketeer!).

Lyrics:
stay with me
don't walk away
don't turn your back on me
please
stay with me

All the inspiration .... &mdash 01/19/08 - 02:19:26 AM

Great vignette here... Alannah conveys sadness and desparation quite effectively here.

2 (Dos) Kudos here!

OOPS .... &mdash 01/19/08 - 02:21:14 AM
.. I think I quite accidentally demoted Moorlandt from King of Darkness and Noir to Prince of Darkness and Noir .... but the message remains the same ... it was HIS piece of music and I just tried to fit the bill ....

Outstanding &mdash 01/16/08 - 09:19:28 PM
This is a beautiful rendition of a terrific piece of music. Nicely done. Peace.

Thanks D .... &mdash 01/19/08 - 02:23:18 AM
.. originally my verse had this EXTRA line which just didn't it into the music ... I tried to shorten it .. but it still sounded out of place .... so this is where we ended up ....

What a cool idea! &mdash 01/16/08 - 09:27:26 PM
of linking the tunes in the manner you are stating. Alannah, is such a powerful voice. It will be cool to hear how the other links will come out.

.. I too am encouraged by Moorland posting a complete tune with all his little "snippegess" .. he collects .. I know for his album which he has planned he wants to play them out separately .. but I am trying to persuade him to do an entourage ( spelled HOW exactly) .... of all the snippets he collects and make one song and post it .... I think it would sound great !

Walt, I love your original version, but this little snippet sounds fantastic. I often mention how your voice and performances sound very "Berlin cabaret" to me, and I think Alannah's fits in a similar way into that context. Interested to see who else surfaces on this.

One man's .... &mdash 01/19/08 - 02:29:38 AM
... "Berlin Cabernet" ... is another man's "Film Noir" ... which is how I related to Moorlandt's original posting .... I luv his Film Noir sound .... and when asked to sing a verse on the same tune .... I wasn;t sure I could pull it off ... after several OFF KEY attempts ..... (I had a hard time not singing the off key notes ... note for note .. and somehow coming out flat) ... this is what I came up with .... trying to keep it on the "dark side" ....

who &mdash 01/18/08 - 06:00:05 AM
wouldn't be impressed with the emotional displayed here both musically and vocally.... such a distinctive resonant voice..... but I wanted this to go on much, much longer, regards M

If you ..... &mdash 01/19/08 - 02:32:05 AM
.. want "longer" ... I think this might just be longer .... cause there is a persuasion underway for Moorlandt to post ALL the little snippet versions he is in the process of collecting and making it into one long TUNE which he may post here ... keep yer eyes peeled .... ( I understand other people are singing verses on this one .... shhhh )

the right voice &mdash 01/18/08 - 02:00:39 PM
For this mood piece.

This reminds one of one of those background slow (incidental) pieces behind one of those James Bond Flicks ala Shirley Bassey

But I don't mean like Goldfinger. Perhaps some connecting scene.

Yes ..... &mdash 01/19/08 - 02:36:00 AM
... I've heard the Shirley Bassey thing before ... I was trying to hit that "film noir" sound that I often hear in Moorlandt's pieces .... and also hit what I call that "half note" ... or "flat note" without actually sounding "flat" ya know which note I am talking about ... it's often heard in jazz numbers .... if I daresay (Ella F .... yeah I wish .... hits em often ) .... I can only strive to try ....

What an excellent choice Moorlandt made in asking Allanah. Truly unique vocals and great addition to the bittersweet quality of the music. I'll have to go back and listen to the first "verse" sung by Walter, as I remember enjoying that.

Beautiful voice &mdash 05/02/08 - 06:34:28 AM
Just heard the Estrella treatment, so I thought I would have a listen to this... I love Allanah's voice for the dark moodiness of this music, and I love the fact that there are different treatments of this wonderful music to listen to, each with a very distinctive but beautiful (and powerful) voice. Nice lyrics, Allanah!

that you were absolutely fabulous. I'm surprised you weren't able to coax a longer variant upon which you could tinker. Thank you, both.
