Song Description

After years of careful research and tireless investigation, uncovering and decoding, Rejewski knew it was there. It had to be: it simply made sense. It could be no other way.

The thought increasingly haunted his dreams. The enciphered scripts unrolled before him. The maps and their Gnostic symbols were clear to him now. He knew their secrets.

In his reveries he plotted how to gain access undetected to the undercroft. Although he had yet to set his eyes upon it, he knew exactly how the niche appeared. He could visualize the Coptic inscription just below the opening.

This night was the time for action. He had rehearsed this in his mind dozens of times: each precise step to attain his goal. Soon, the artefact would be in his deserving hands.

You should pick up James Rollins' latest novel - You'll trip on the correlation to this music

Quite the trip here.... Very nice, thanks

i put in the magnetic storms since they let you hear whistlers that come from lightning storms at opposite side of the world.

thanks

Away to Go! &mdash 01/18/08 - 03:19:44 AM
That's the idea! Grab somefing from the deep past to write about. The past is where it's at, because the present is rather boring. (The people who try and write the future don't know what they're doing, and it sounds like it.)

Ah, but if you had only changed keys! Tha's the big secret. Change keys and keep your listeners on their toes.

even though there are several different things going on here - i really like the sound of the chanting voices in particular. there's something mysterious about that. part the voices almost reminds me of Mark Snow (X-Files).

thanks!

Spooky-mystical &mdash 01/18/08 - 05:18:39 PM
lots of spirits floating in the room. The monks singing down through the ages, very effectively captures the mood.

all the recent movies and books about ancient mysteries (a la Dan Brown) inspired this. i put some Morse Code in there too.

thanks

totally forgot about Star Gate. that too is an influence in my thinking here.

i almost used a photo we took while on vacation in Newport RI (i think they call it the moon bridge, but it's a stargate to us!)

You hooked me with the opening beat &mdash 01/20/08 - 09:26:26 PM
Great bold opening that hooked me and the trance-like feel to the beat and the persistence of the rhythm track kept me under the spell.

Flawless mix.

What a great bass line and I love the reverse of the rhythm track in the second half of the song.

i took a mix down out of GB and reversed it and added it back into GB as a new track - i re-aligned it slightly to make the beats line up nicely. i then faded it in and out - it's actually always in there almost all the time. the opening snare-rim sound actually has some backwards snare-rim in it too!

thanks for listening

Love the description &mdash 01/21/08 - 06:10:10 AM
and the song is even better. Excellent orchestration of voices and burbles. Nice use of swirling synths too. Very cinematic.

i had lots of fun doing this one - throwing in that Morse Code was sort of a goof.

i wrote the description after the fact

thanks

right about now, someone is trolling this site who made a very tension filled movie; he's asking himself "why isn't this on my soundtrack?"

i could imagine Langdon standing there with the cryptex in his hands. trying to visualize where in the world the orb he is seeking may lie.
