Description:
This piece started off as an idea for a journey to Jupiter and so was arranged and mixed with this in mind. Then I decided that it was too 'flat' and so programmed in the top voice. This, to me, took the ambiance of space away somewhat, and because the top voice is at an 'angle' to the main sounds, I called it Tangents. The number one because there may/will be others coming along.

There will be more of these type of pieces. I have many ideas that will be made into music over the next year or two.

Take care.

Hi Henri... &mdash 01/22/08 - 10:53:01 AM
I am happy that you find some harmony in the piece. I try to make them more conventional but sometimes these mixes turn away from my original ideas. This piece just had a top layer that was 'different' to the backing.

Take care.

very nice &mdash 01/22/08 - 03:09:24 PM
you are definitely one of my top faves here at MJ. this works really well. the different registers in the synth parts give it a flow and it's maybe more accessible than some of your music. i picture being under the ocean; maybe it's the little percolating sounds remind me of air bubbles and far off sounds that are audible from mile away. really great Paul.

Hi Michael.... &mdash 01/23/08 - 12:26:55 PM
It's great that you enjoyed this mix. The offset 'lead' can be imagined in the way you describe. My take was one of the noises in a space craft travelling through the silent vacuum of space and then going into orbit around a gas giant (Jupiter) so we're on similar lines.

I also realize that my music is less popular than what other Macjammers give to the world. I lack focus and if something takes my fancy I work on it, so I know where you're coming from. Hopefully as my music takes on more of a conventional or classical bent, I will come more mid-stream rather than being up a side creek (without a paddle), but I can't promise.

I value your feedback and kind thoughts, so keep having a quick listen to my ideas, and any thoughts you have, please share them.

Hopefully you and your family had a good break in SF.

Take care.

Paul
