a newer one--been away a while--it's good to be back

today, they say it's over:
there's nothing left behind...
just paper cups and hopefull goodbyes...

to cladrabine, dacarbazine
floating in my bloodstream...
won't you carry me
beneath the trees outside,

september sky's so blue and so bright
and these silver birches are only wielding light
against the loss that we are not prepared
for all the implications everywhere...

but they're still holding on:
small flashes on the water...
then they're gone...

i see it all so clear now...
but i had no idea: how green...
and how bright...

and nothing like those sweet songs
that i believed were so wrong:
the way that we are found and lost
at such a cost...

just to be a body set in motion
that nothing stops at last,
i walk out through the glass
into the whole world...

but the virus is gone...
