Description:
I posted a version of this a couple days ago but deleted it after I got the input I wanted. This is a mastered version, with very little compression and no limiting done to it in mastering, just some complicated EQ adjustments. With acoustic music, I think it's important to keep things as unprocessed as possible. I was using Carrie Rodriguez's album "Seven Angels on a Bicycle" album as a guide for the sound. The one with Bill Frisell playing on it; gorgeous album; it reminds me of Kelli a lot. Very simple, and hopefully inspirational. I actually started playing this acoustic guitar part thinking it was a little like Willie Dixon's song, "Hidden Charms", imagine that! Kelli heard the music and came up with this glorious melody. To go along with that I constructed the drum part from a rolling train pattern from EZ Drummer Nashville Kit parts and the banjo and tremelo guitar and bass fell into line after that. The hardest part was resisting the temptation to do more and clutter it up. Low key, but I like it that way!

Love a new Fritters song! &mdash 01/25/08 - 05:40:49 AM
First, Kelli, love your vocals, and the writing is really classy as well.

Jim, well another lesson in production! Everything is so well placed, and so real sounding, as if we could be in the same room. Minimal playing works so well - congratulations on your restraint!. I'd love to be able to do acoustic-sounding recordings as well as this.

I know I am in good hands. Like the beginning of a good book or a great movie one always knows right away when they are in the hands of creative and skilled craftsmen. Thanks again.

I never met ya but I know ya. And I'll be seein' ya. This is my first listen to your stuff, I'll be getti'n to more, when I get there.I can't believe these aren't live human drums. Don't tell anyone else, no one will know. This is the kind of music I'd've expected in my old scene in Chicago... hangin' at places and seeing Roenie Fulks, Freakwater... this is fantastic.

Sorry about the typos. I meant Robbie Fulks... And I wasn't saying you sounded like those others, just that, well... y'know.
