Description
Country is not a genre I like very much. Then again, I love Rosalie Sorrels, Nancy Griffith, Emy Lou Harris. IU guess it is the kind of music that gets played on AM radio (or at least that is what I remember when I lived in the US until the late 70s). Anyway, I guess this in country-ish. I wrote it for Rena Seidel, though of course she doesn't know it. I was only 18 at the time and never dared tell a girl I liked her.
If anyone sees Rena, tell her I am looking for her. (If I had told her, maybe I wouldn't have spent the last 30 years in Tokyo!!!)
If anyone runs into her, tell her I said hi!
This version was recorded in the mid-80s. Other instruments added in 2007.

Lyrics
Many times i have loved and every time you have not
You who seemed so soft and so free
many times i have hoped and every time you've cut the rope
But even so I'll go on thinking of you
And i've got reason to believe
That unless we plant a seed
Sun will never shine tomorrow
But we walk on different streets
Just so that we'll never meet
Even though we both know our game means sorrow
No we can't go on living without loving too
And we can't go on fearing the words I love you
Some think love is a thingthat is bought like a ring
and it's won by the ones who are charming
me I love what i can know
And i know that love can grow
Like two roses conceived in the winter
And i love your love of trees
And i ask you love me please
For a reason that is to your liking
Don't search high and don't search low
You gotta love what you can know
And in time, there'll be a fine flower garden
You who seemed so soft and so free
many times i have hoped and every time you've cut the rope
But even so I'll go on thinking of you
And i've got reason to believe
That unless we plant a seed
Sun will never shine tomorrow
