Description:
Written at the Holger Danske Bodega in Denmark in 1975. Songs and poems can inspire, give us strength, strike out at war and injustice. But inside every songwriter and poet is a person whose heart bleeds with every love lost, with every act of courage thwarted, with every time he did not tell someone he loved them for fear they would not reciprocate.

In the bar at midnight
The poet-drunkard spins a song of torture and of tears
Of lovelessness and sleeplessness, empty beds and regiments
Wasted bones and fear

There are tears enough for refugees
Of lives lost to the crimes
Of soldier, statesman, citizen
But no soul cries for lives deprived of loving

And in the corner of the bar
The poet's pen bleeds whiskey on the wood that turns the world upon its head
To marry death and dreaming
To weave the notion that in both loveless nights and lifeless hearts
There's weeping and the suffering thread's the same

Written at the age of 22.

Paul, wow...
You have so big voice, but so big... It would suit him so much, if it was accompanied with bigger sound. Equally big to the size of your vocals.
The song is truly wonderful, very strong with great melody and very nice guitar line. The lyrics are well done (have no clue how someone can be so gifted in such early age of 22. I am 31 and talking about a gift for poetry or lyricism, no miracle is happening :)
I am truly amazed. Wonderful.
