Description:
A song about a couple having a failure to communicate, when all that really needs to be said is "goodbye'. Jesse Osmun on the guitar, I wrote the lyrics and sang. Thanks for listening!

Lyrics:
A Thousand Ways by Paul Nicholson

If you wrote me a letter
Told me a story with your hands
It would have been better
Would have helped me understand

If you left me a message
From your lips, after the tone
What the heart confesses
It always strips to the bone

Chorus --
There must be a thousand ways
A thousand ways to say goodbye
There must be a thousand ways
A thousand ways to say goodbye

If we went for coffee
If we sat outside in the sun
Baby, I know that you'd see
That our time has just begun

And if you painted a picture
With the colors in your eyes
Can't you see us together
In watercolor skies?

Chorus

If you sang me a love song
Would you remember all the words?
How could I get it so wrong
What I know that I heard

You stare at me with deserted eyes
Tell me there's nothing left to say
Maybe the coldest way to say goodbye
Is to stay.

Chorus

thanks...
...for the kind words! Pablatone, I love the sad songs myself -- funny, I am the most optimistic person I know, maybe dark movies and sad songs are cathartic for me. Thanks, Relic and Feter for the thumbs up.

Peace,
Paul

A very nice love story type tune here.
Enjoy the emotion of this. This is the type of tune that you just have to stop cause you know it has an important story. Especially how you deliver this in the texture of your voice.

Thanks for sharing the tune!

Really nice song
This is the kinda stuff I really like. I would love to hear this recorded with a band. Unless you think otherwise, I think you could rock this one out (i.e. Ryan Adams, Matthew Ryan, Peter Himmelman)The Chorus is very cool. Your voice is very nice and fits this song really, really well. If you don't have a band I would like to give it a shot and post a version this song. Thoughts?

So intelligent
and wise, this hit home. True, this: "Maybe the coldest way to say goodbye
Is to stay." Made me cry. Thank you.

Another great one! I fully expect you to pimp your album here when it's ready (and there better be one, or else) so I can buy it
