Description:
may contain traces of Five_extra_arms

Lyrics:
My fingers slide down your spine
And my hands caress your back
I’ll spread you open till you crack
And I’ll read between your lines

Cos if I really want some action
Then I’d better get some fiction

Please let me turn off the light
And please let me turn you on
I will start the projection
And we’ll monkeyshine through the night

Cos if I really need some action
Then I’d better get some fiction

The Afternoon of a faun
In front of the leaf-green screen
I dreamt « Oh ! I hold the queen »
Now it’s the evening of a clown

Cos if I really need some action
I’d need some imagination

wow - i'm trying to get over the line:

I'll spread you open til you crack.

Cleverly, there are double meanings here, reading under the bedclothes and stuff, but wow!

More later.

they make you say strange things sometimes.

An Afternoon Of Fun With A Faun &mdash 01/28/08 - 06:54:24 AM
Your vocal treatments are frightening and dark. I like being frightened. I think this version has a good balance of all the deep dark haunting sounds you've chosen. As always your lyrics are mysterious and sexy in a Silence of the Lambs way - (sexy like Silence of the Lambs? Did I just say that?) Maybe it's more like the way I felt the first time I heard Joy Division. I was being held hostage in a pit by a weirdo who was making a costume out of skin.... it's not a costume....

I particularly like the new verse at the end - The Afternoon of a faun.... really adds a new level of meaning to it.

BK Sound's guitars are as memorable as ever. I've had this tune lodged in my brain for at least week. Your synthesizer sounds are intense and I wish they were mine.

The vibraslap is perfect.

Great tune CJ.

I was sure &mdash 01/28/08 - 12:16:02 PM
you'd like the vibraslap ! But I'd like to have your opinion on the ghost vocals and the break: don't you thik they just fit the song?

Thanks for your comment on the last verse. I wanted to write a song called "afternoon of a faun" but I realized it would be the same topic , so I just stuck it there. The two middle lines should be switched for better effect, though.

And thanks for (mac)jamming with us. Now just relax and wait for the royalties.

Ghost In The Hamlet Machine &mdash 01/28/08 - 12:41:48 PM
I think the ghost vocals are spectacular. Reminds me of a German Shepherd barking through a hole in a fence.

Is it true that this song was tested on elephants before you released it here?

on pandas. We like to scare pandas. That's how bad we are.

Frightening Pandas Since 1996 &mdash 01/29/08 - 04:51:48 AM
The warbling vocal track was scary enough by itself, but the deep dark ghost track is the tainted cherry on top.

Back to the synth sounds... I'm glad you spent the time you did fining those perfect sounds. I can't imagine your vocals without them. They work off of each other so mirror like.

that's the result of years of studying and teaching music theory. Thanks for noticing.

Like what you did CJ. Extremely original and cool. Very scary. I hope that was what you were going for. My daughter just heard it and said it was creepy (she overheard) and asked what I was listening to. I'll never understand you papa.

should not be exposed to Hamlet machines material as they do not fit the current safety regulations. But thanks a lot for taking the chance for yourself.

Scary monster &mdash 01/28/08 - 12:51:48 PM
The vocal treatments on this are ace - very disturbing. I really like the guitar on this too - nice and overdriven ... well, not nice, but you know what i mean. has the same intensity as Pornography era Cure.

Which means i really like it.

pornography &mdash 01/28/08 - 01:10:49 PM
I just listened to it this morning on my Ipod (which I do rarely since I know it by heart)and it never fails to blow my mind. For me it's simply my favorite album ever, the album as a work of art in itself, not so much because of the songs themselves, but because of what the song go through or what goes through the songs. It's a real heavy psychedelic trip, "atrocity exhibtion" done with a Hendrix/Pink Floyd vibe, instead of a Stooges/Velvet one. By 22 years old kids on bad drugs ! Amazing ! (I could go on like this for 500 lines)

i love that ring mudulation at the begiining, and the gtr line when the freaky vox come in is awesome. i'll agree with everyone else: very disturbing. BUT very cool. you guys really did a super sick job on this, and it's catcy as all hell. great job.

disturbing... &mdash 01/28/08 - 04:22:56 PM
and that was supposed to be our poppiest, most accessible song in the last batch... Maybe, we're just weirdos after all (not our costumes but our skins).

I like the vocals too, listening to this while tripping would probably turn your brain inside out...

I like doing the monkeyshine...cool lyrics! I think it goes beyond the rhyming as you suggest but then again thats up for interpretation!

while tripping? &mdash 01/29/08 - 01:50:14 PM
don't even think about it!

About rhymes, what I meant was that they can narrow songs a bit at times, but they also can unlock from your mind things you did not know where there (or wish weren't there).

I like it! &mdash 01/29/08 - 09:36:52 PM
Amazing, soundscape with good rhythm.

Lyrics--seem to me a little homage to myth-making/art-making. Clever as always.

I really like the--LOL--I don't know how to describe it: the "ooh, ooh, ooh"? part at the start of the break. It's so sweet among all the haze. I like all of it. I can't really enumerate all the stuff I liked, so I'll stop trying.

Liked this as soon as I heard that bit-crushed opening. Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like early Beck on an acid trip. I love it!
