Louise (2)used to be (2)back the way (2) ()
Description:
Circa 1997, Billy on lead vocals, this is the first Ghostmaker track uploaded to web.

--

During the digital conversion process, some of the toms got distorted and I apologize for that. I can't be arsed re-uploading purely for that reason. I added (much required) bass boost to the analog track but the distortion only appeared AFTER the upload.

On the plus side, the (at times) "flanged cymbals" come across rather well and I completely forgot that we added that effect during mixdown.

Lyrics:
(Billy laughs....)

V 1

When I was in her eyes, she'd send me lullabies
I drifted off on the sofa,
I had an awful dream, lipstick smothered candy stream
And I awoke to discover.

V 2

So where did she go wrong, I thought the girl was strong
She ended up in a real state,
She broke in many ways, her hair a constant haze
But never listen(ed) when I said (well).

CH 1

Please Louise, I'm on my hands and knees and I'm begging please,
Well Louise, I want you back the way you used to be
Before, before, before.
Oh Louise, I'm on my hands and knees and I'm begging please,
Oh Louise, I want you back the way you used to be.

V 3

Sound frames and loud guitars, had a hand like handlebars that always had been a favourite,
She knew exactly when, whispered words like innocence,
But just how long can we fake it.

V 4

So why we hit so hard, started off with no holes barred,
You kept up - all of the hatred
You told me I was right kept me up almost all night,
But still you gotta pay the lippy.

CH 2

Oh please Louise, I'm on my hands and knees and I'm begging please,
Well Louise, I want you back the way you used to be
Before, before, Louise.
Oh Louise, (silent BLEEP) till you'd never felt better.
I wanna take ya home and wrap you in a little blue sweater.

BRIDGE

I didn't realize you were faithful, I didn't realize I'd be grateful,
But you held me in your arms, told me all the talk
Kept me up till I believed it all.

SOLO

CH 3

Louise, I'm on my hands and knees and begging please,
On Louise, I want you back the way you used to be,
Before, before, before.

Oh Louise, I want you back the way you used to be
Oh Louise, I'm on my hands and knees
I beg you please,
My.... Louise

What a great name! Reminds me of the kinda 4 track demos I used to make, but your songs were a lot lot better. Great guitar work!

Never heard ... &mdash 01/28/08 - 01:49:07 PM

.. this band before. Is this the group you produced/recorded for?

Good catchy song.. the vocal in this (Billy) reminds me alot of Ian Astbury of The Cult .. the guitars a little too. Cool.

Having done some consultation... &mdash 01/28/08 - 02:22:08 PM
@ Steve - this is 16 track. From mems, about 30 squid each.

After a years gap, I rejoined my old band members in a studio in Partick (Glasgow) for this session. We did about 4 tracks. As a crew, I assisted in the mix down session but am on the "ivories" and b vox. in about 2.

Re. "Ghostmaker", indeed, this took a while to dream up....

@ Feter - as ever - thanks.

@ APB, Ghostmaker were essentially what happened after Catch and then XL. "Flatch" remained on guitars, Bob McCormick replaced Ian McD on drums, Colin Campbell on fretless bass, and I pissed off until we/they found a replacement for me on vox although I hung around for a year or so during the auditioning process.

Billy was about our 90th 'interviewee' and he got the job straight away. Sensational stage/studio person but at the same time, the wildest person we ever met.

Being a songwriter, because the latter bit got so tedious, I went part-time.

PS

Annotation

Apparently, V 3 should read as follows:-

The sound of flames and loud guitars, held her head like handlebars - that always had been her favourite,
