Hi Feter &mdash 01/29/08 - 02:44:40 PM
I'm glad you are interested and that you have pieces you've worked on that would suit the theme. I can't wait to hear them!! Thanks, as always, for your support!

Peace,
Doug

Gotta get on board! &mdash 01/29/08 - 02:16:24 PM
But my time is growing scarce... I'll see what I can do but it may be awhile. Hope there's no hurry...

I certainly understand about the time crunch &mdash 01/29/08 - 02:53:49 PM
I have been off of this site more-or-less since late December due to other concerns needing attention. But, as the watchmaker says, "There's no present like the time" so if you can squeeze out something which you feel still holds your artistic integrity that would be great! But I wouldn't just scurry to meet the end of March date I put in the forum post - I believe that some of the works that will become part of this collection will be major efforts, and they will take the time they need to be fully baked.

Thanks again for your support Rick!

A very cool idea &mdash 01/29/08 - 02:48:02 PM
As a writer of imaginative fiction, I love (and follow, to an extent), the Monomyth outline and the Epic Myth. It's fun to take a popular story (such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc) and to define the characters' places in the story and outline the plot.

I've even thought of writing musical themes to some of my stories/characters, though have not actually done it.
This might be a good excuse!

Thanks for the invitation :)

So nice to hear from you! &mdash 01/29/08 - 03:35:47 PM
I was thinking of your singing as I was playing with my new samples in putting together "To the Hall of the Goddess" - and here you are. I didn't realise that you were also a writer - although I shouldn't be surprised given the wide set of artistic talents you've been granted. I hope that this project then will be right up your street as it were - visual art, transportive music, and mythic storytelling.

BTW, I always wondered if you were a Myst (the game) aficionado.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Take care, and all the best!
Doug

Myst, Riven...Myst-ified &mdash 01/29/08 - 06:27:23 PM
Loved both of those games. Read the books (Book of Atrus, Book of Ti'ana, Book of D'ni), too. :)
The storytelling and background story are great, not to mention the artwork of the games and the ambient music that accompanied it.
(The song "Rehlehna" that I posted a while back was sort of a tribute to it)

Cool &mdash 01/29/08 - 09:18:31 PM
I loved those games too for the atmosphere they produced, particularly the combination of superb graphics and music in Riven and Exile. Jack Wall did some great compostions for Exile, and in fact there is a bit of his influence in the piece I just posted (To the Hall of the Goddess) in that I used a duduk in a wet sound environment as he did.

I too have played all of the Myst games up to Myst V as well as URU, but the later ones didn't have the same atmosphere somehow. I never read the books tho - maybe I should...

Rehlehna is absolutely gorgeous by the way. Not sure how I missed it on your list when I've visited before.

Thanks again,
Doug
