Lyrics:
SECRET KEEPERS

Be it on the couch of a shrink
Or At the bottom of a drink
On the shoulder where you weep
Or when talking in your sleep

Keep it secret
Keep it secret
Keep it secret
You ‘ve a secret

Because the secret keepers
They are sad and they look lonely
They look bad and melancholy
But the others
They’re just losers

And be it in a pillow talk
or be it in a moonlit walk
be it under blackmail or threat
for the best sex you could get

Keep it secret
Keep it secret
Keep it secret
You ‘ve a secret

Because the secret keepers
They are sad and they’re lonely
They look bad and melancholy
But the other...
They are just losers

some heavy riffage going on there, by my friend Brentford.

I am no android, and just normally paranoid, but I feel the need to treat my voice a bit, taking out bass, putting a light wah-wah, that sort of stuff.

Thanks for stopping.

this is our version of a glam song, as you posted yours sometime ago. But I'm not as good at doing the Bolan as you are.

I really like your sound, man. it's really raw and confident. cool song. the synth is a nice touch and I love the robotic vocals.

JC, you're doing some really kickin work lately. The guitar on this is sleazy sweet, and really works with the vocals you do on this. I love the more aggressive chorus and the ooh ohhs. Did you get help from RoboBob with this??

good title for a song. Gives me an idea for a play, maybe.

RoboRob hasn't been involved this time, but,as you spotted, he's certainly been an inspiration for the song (sounds synth and all).

they keep getting better and better.
The solid state crunch on the guitars sounded cool. Also dug the unharmonic notes at the beginning, The vocal placement was pretty cool in different fields, although... there are a few places where they do get buried.

Damn. Hamlet Machines rule a world of their own

crunchy &mdash 02/02/08 - 05:34:23 AM
Not easy to be the singer in such a noisy band, plus my voice ain't the main attraction either.

Actually, we find it easier to rule in a world of our own. We tried other worlds, but they wouldn't hear about it.

Thanks for stopping. It gave me occasion to check your version of the Estellie's song.

great inventive sounds going on here and at one point I got a hint of Elvis Costello in the vocal. Good lyrics and good sounds all round , regards M

I don't know, but we certainly try to push things to the max.

the Costello voice yeah, hadn't thought about it: thin and edgy is the way to go for me.

Thanks for listening.

Blackmail or Threat &mdash 02/03/08 - 11:36:40 AM
I got to hear this the other day, but just now occupied the kids long enough to reveal my thoughts. At first I thought it gonna be a Monggz songg when I heard that horrific and filthy guitar sound. It's heavy and perfect. Brentford must be on a heavy iron enriched diet these days. The lead licks are very colorful and push this to the top of your pop hits.

You're vocals are rockstar cool on this tune. You're having fun playing the the wah wah (again) and it works well (again). Lucky for you, you resist the urge to over use it. We've talked about this before. The back up oohs are always cool. I like the mix on them especially.

I would guess you spent quite a bit of energy putting this one together if it really came from 2 songs. It has way more than the standard verse, bridge chorus. Great sounds combined to make a really great song.

Your explicit warning is the only think keeping you a secret.

enriched diet &mdash 02/03/08 - 12:09:12 PM
I certainly put a little time into blending the two songs. The verse is one song and the break was the verse to the chorus.

As to the sound that holds it together, to put it simply, it wouldn't be the same without the enriched diet of 5xa I've been through. Songs like "dontcha think" and "you don't want me" have nurtured me with their fat synthetic contents.

So I'm glad you like it.

Keeping One's Lip Zipped &mdash 02/04/08 - 03:41:26 PM
Dear Hamlet Machine,

Your song is packed with power, the power to piss me off.

You see, keeping secrets is what two people, who are supposed to care about one another, do.

During my divorce to Deanna Sue, I wanted a clean break with no strings attached. Well, except for purse strings. You see, Deanna Sue made twice as much money as I did during our marriage. This was mainly due to her unbridled lust for success that made her put in almost 40 hours of work per week.

One night we were have a couple of Barcardi & Skim-Milks, just discussing how we could divide the assets. I wanted the 8 track player and the mini fridge. I guess I got a little carried away and asked for $75.00 a month in alimony; you know to help defray the cost of cable, including Skin-a-max. Well I must have breached her Maginot line, because Deanna Sue immediately threw my 45 of Helen Reddy's "Delta Dawn" and sliced my forehead open just above the left eye brow.
I told her, "I'll see you in mediation". Then got a butterfly bandage for my cut.

In mediation Deanna Sue breaks my confidence and blurts out that I'm being paid under the table as a stable boy for a herd of Clydesdales.

Well now that $50.00 a month was counted as part of my income and lost me any chance of alimony.

Way to keep a secret Deanna Sue.

Thanks for reminding me Hamlet Machine, you're another 5 Extra Arms in the waiting.

Dear Mr Mustard Seed &mdash 02/05/08 - 01:31:48 PM
However compassionate I can feel about your personal troubles, I think your feelings make you blind to an important, if not essential, point: I could not agree more with you, my song being nothing if not an unequivocal praise of secrecy as a virtue of the highest order. Would have your ex-wife listened to this song before her shameful treason, it could have spared you a lot of suffering and a few bucks. This song, Mr Mustard Seed, saves lives.

And , if you please, don't you ever compare to 5xa, a man whose blatant and shameless exploitation of his private life and of the holy sacrament of marriage has more than once embarassed our quiet little community.

Sincerely yours.

a little late coming in, but still worth it. Also pleasantly surprised my name had already been mentioned in the comments. I'm glad you listened to ktb's version of metamorphoses.

I like Secret Keepers! Great you're exploring the higher range in her backing vocals.

umm....I was trying to spell "the" ayayay.

The backing vocals are obviously very masculine, and female friendly.

Sounds good. I've been noticing your backing vocals these past two songs...
