Description:
I was tinkering on the piano and was playing a song I didn't know too well. Since I didn't know the lyrics, I started making my own ones up. After a while I got my lazy butt up to listen to the CD to see if I was playing it right. I realized I was singing a harmony part as the melody (sort of). I thought to myself "this isn't his melody- so it's mine!" ; ) I hadn't remember the chorus, so I had made up my own one already. Long story short, this song happened totally by accident. Dedicated to Sir Paul (the author of the 'other' song) - may he be rid of Mucca forever!

Lyrics:
blues for the baby
who's gonna maybe take you home tonight?
wind in the willow
head on a pillow 'till the morning light

sun's gonna warm you
who's gonna harm you when you're in my arms?
wind's gonna swing you
bird's gonna bring you candy coated charms

bees in a bonnet
seizing upon it - let it float away
who's gonna sting you?
who's gonna sing you safely on your way?

will your heart start swimming?
will you start to drown?
will the world stop spinning?
will the sky fall down?

blues for the baby
who's gonna maybe keep you warm tonight?
the wind's gonna blow you
who's gonna show you everything's alright?

if your heart stops beating -
if it makes no sound -
is your heart retreating
to the lost and found?

when the world stops spinning
lay me on the ground
if the world stops spinning
will the sky fall down?
...sky fall down

Very nice song &mdash 02/03/08 - 03:40:27 AM
If I heard this anywhere else, I would not pick up that it was based on another song, it sounds totally original, and chorus is really good.
Nice job.

Paul-esque... &mdash 02/03/08 - 09:21:08 AM
yet very original. When this comes up in iTunes random play, I'm going to think it's a song from a major label. You do such fine composing and arranging! :-)

Beautifully done Brian &mdash 02/03/08 - 09:53:07 AM
A touching song with a catchy melody is a hard combination to beat, and this one is all that and more.
My only suggestions would be to bring up the bottom end of the song a little to give it a more solid feel as well as some drive, and there are places where the vocal is overpowered by the piano at times.

This is s definite keeper Brian that just needs a little tweaking in MHO.

Bravo, for an accidental song, you have a winner here.

Sometimes a previous comment will leave you "yeah, thats what I was thinking!". I will indeed wake up one day to read that a member of our community is now selling millions on line and I suspect that you would be on the short list for that honor.

Kind of reminds me of a &mdash 02/04/08 - 10:11:54 PM
Beatles ballad, such as Paul Mcartney etc.

But of course all your own style. Love that descending bass. This is a nice tune and enjoyable to listen to.

Lots of cool ballad sounds here. Fits very nicely.

Glad I stopped by!

Another gem for sure!

You know--I've heard someone say: Bad artists copy, great artists steal!

Picaso, I think?

Lovely tune .. &mdash 02/05/08 - 02:54:45 PM
.. in the Nolan/Jonx mode. Love the cello part - wow that gets LOW! I'd suggest maybe dropping the instrumentation back a little in the "busier" parts as your wonderful vocal gets a little relegated to the second row. Definite Beatleesque vibe. Lovely harmonies and playing - nice chord changes - good set of lyrics - lots of light and shade.
And did I mention how much I like the cello?
Top post Brian!

someone else said the same thing (the vocal getting lost) - listening again, I agree. I've since remixed it with the vocal louder throughout, piano down a little in parts and the end descending bass pizzicato a bit louder which drives it a little more.

thanks for the suggestions!

Top notch &mdash 02/07/08 - 12:02:13 AM
as expected and a very enjoyable listen, I hope the "gloved one" doesn't own the rights to the original. Your vocals sound great and nice orchestration, but you shouldn't give away trade secrets. Perhaps you should have said that the tune came to you in a dream or you recorded it while sleep walking..... I guess honesty is the best policy.

Superb! &mdash 02/08/08 - 06:47:03 AM
Great job, love the transitional moments when only a guitar our piano come back in to bridge to the next part. Tremendous lyrics, metering, just an outstanding job on this.

Peace,
Paul

I really &mdash 02/17/08 - 05:12:33 AM
like the slow build up in this lovely song. You sing extremely well (dare I say Randy Newman, but not as harsh as him LOL) and love your instruments too and accompaniment and lyrics.... the cello sounds well in this, Lovely lullaby-ish song, regards M

Little Willow &mdash 03/11/08 - 08:43:37 AM
This has a real strong Paul McCartney sound, in fact, I thought it was a derivative of Little Willow until later in the song. You gotta listen to that song again and think about how close it sounds, on so many levels. I love your stuff, always look forward to it, but McCartney's tune must of been stuck somewhere in your memory. Of course, great minds think alike.

BINGO &mdash 03/11/08 - 12:49:31 PM
that's the one i was referring to in the description (without actually naming it) - since I was mistakenly singing a harmony, i kept it. i don't think he can sue me over it! (not that he needs the money!) good spot!
