Is this
a midi file or are you playing it? The timing is so consistent I tend to think it's a midi file. Anyhow its great either way, I love the old boogie woogie
piano which was a big part of the New Orleans sound and the beginning of rock and roll.

thanks for posting

hand played.
No this is not a midi file, it is all hand played, but I was using an electric metronome monitored via headphones to keep me on course as this particular style of boogie has an inconsistant left hand pattern as opposed to the more common eight to the bar. Sometimes Yancey would just play three notes to the bar with his lft hand. The problem with this piece is that if this speeds up at all, it gets too fast to play the final choruses. At least for me anyway! Thanks for listening.

wow again. Great pic and great tune. Lots of rhythmic bluesy flow, very entertaining. Love how the bass lines sound and keeping the melody in line sooooo nice!

Good playing
There are a couple of digital hits (overs) in the song and I am wondering if that was because it was recorded with a mic off a real piano or because there was some overload on the mixdown. "A minor point at such a time" however.

no idea
I have absolutely no idea whatsoever, to be honest I'm only interested in the music it's self. All I know is it was played on a digital piano, which was, and still is a Korg SP200.

did you hear them?
maybe I can help a little bit anyway. Do you hear what I am talking about with the slight crackles in a couple of places?

Did you record the piano directly into the computer or did you use a microphone. What was your input to the computer if you went directly? It might be that the minor distortion was not created during the recording process, but happened later and can be remedied.

I am just the opposite of you ... I don't play the music, I just mix it and record it.

thanks
Thank you for your help, it was recorded direct with no microphone, and to be honest I hadn't noticed any clicks but there again my hearing is not that good after years of being bombarded by loud sounds in Led Zeppelin type groups and so forth. There is a bass on the record as well which may have been responsible. I really don't know.
Thanks for your response anyway, I'm afraid you're dealing with a very untechnical person here. Most of my favourite old records are littered with snaps and crackles and pops anyway and so I suppose I've just got used to them. Appreciate your comments though.

John.

Really busy
right now but perhaps over this weekend I'll have a chance to put together some thoughts and perhaps some musical samples of various types of recording errors and the resulting artifacts.

I'm always
glad to see people keeping this kind of music alive. Most of the pop star piano singer-songwriters couldn't touch this stuff. You probably won't get rich playing it-but keep it up anyway!

boogie my woogie
I'm glad you like this piece, and you are right I don't suppose I'll ever get rich playing it, but it always seems to be popular when I used to play it at gigs.

Thanks.

Just Keep Playin'
Don't think twice about your recording. Just keep playing. Don't let anything get in the way between and your music.

Thanks for all the great music.
