Description:
Written and recorded in 2003.

A song about a member of the royal family. I must apologize in advance for the quality but it was written and recorded very quickly and as usual with little attention given to the actual recording of it, so please just judge the song, thank you.

Lyrics:
The man who would be king by woofer3

He bores us to distraction,
as he tells us of his views ,
As if we care what he should think
or what he'd like to do.
We've heard it many times before -
it's one more in a string ,
Of drawn out statements spoken-
by the man who would be king.

Never more than ordinary -
and trying to amuse .
Takes his time,speaks his mind-
he's always in the news.
Sticks his nose in everyehere -
we stop and listen in ,
to words of wisdom spewing -
from the man who would be King.

Number one to take the throne-
and drink the palace wine ,
Mother isn't quite so sure -
she's not convinced it's time.
He's not the man his father is-
though some his praises sing,
The man who's standing next in line-
The man who would be king.

Hunting wildlife like his dad -
the prince displays his skill,
Shooting things that don't shoot back.
we know he shoots to kill.
He's a Charlie that's for sure -
with sporting double chin ,
So raise your glass and drink up to the -
Man who would be king [2003]

How refreshing... &mdash 02/06/08 - 03:03:30 PM
Great song - i love the little bits you put at the end of your songs. As you say, the quality of the recording lets it down a bit but who cares - it really is a fun listen. On to listen to the next.
Cheers
Len

Such a fine set of lyrics. And a nice vocal delivery. I feel a little better production could help your stuff. But The high quality shines through it all. Regards

Good lyrics and melody. Kind of a Procol Harum arrangement with piano and organ.

I did a song called "State of the Union" which is a companion piece to this, from across the pond. You can go to my site on MacJams if you want to give it a listen.

Thanks for posting.

I've just noticed that I haven't acknowledged any of these comments - apologies to Len, Feter, Buckhorn and Tim. Thank you all for taking the time to listen and comment. This song was recorded while it was being written. The instrument tracks were recorded on a Panasonic kn920 keyboard sequencer and then dropped onto one track of a portastudio and then the vocals were added -[I think]

It's part of my royal family collection which includes,The Duchess of Pork, - and - Harry keeps his records in a rack,- all written purely for my own amusement. Sorry about the quality. ttfn.

John
