Keywords:
pure silver (1)silver (2)wish (9)david armbruster (24)lavalamp (33)short (106)ditty (3) ()
Description:
The title refers to me always trying to find gold and always finding silver, and in some cases copper or even worse. I sure some of you can relate.
I guess if I write hundred more, I'm bound to find a little gold.
For the time being, here is a piece of silver.
LL

Lyrics:
Pure Silver

Walking alone
I wish I were home
Eating, drinking, sleep like a stone

I wish I were right
I'm up half the night
Reading, writing, under my light

Dreaming of you
What can I do?

When I'm high, I wanna' fly
I have no troubles in the sky
I can see, I can feel
I know my shadow knows what is real

Follow my dreams
It's up to me
I wake, shake up
Am I lucky?

Saving my cash
I'm useless and brash
All my time is wasted and trashed

All out of time
But I don't mind

When I'm high, I wanna' fly
I have no troubles in the sky
I can see, I can feel
I know my shadow knows what is real

Words and music by David Armbruster

Cool! It's kind of The Doors meets Floyd. Might be cool to have a little fuzzy guitar solo in there too, but it works well without. I really like the mood shift in the outro. Caught me by pleasant surprise. Nice one Dave!

I can see what your saying. I wasn't even born when they were around, I guess someone has to keep their spirits alive.
Thanks Ridd,
I always appreciate it when you comment.

gold in them there hills &mdash 02/08/08 - 12:03:30 PM
Dave, this just totally oozes and drips of 60's pop in a good way.

even though your searching in the lyrics the music is real uptempo and bouncy. Early Floyd meets the turtles.

Thanks for paying attention to the lyrics. Some times my lyrics are nothing more than word play, and sometimes not. Guess which style was used on this.

Little song! Got a nice feel, and the mix is good too.
The problem with finding gold is where do you go next? Sometimes the journey to greatness is what keeps it alive! (wow got a bit deep there!)

Keep on reaching!

Dave. Your vocals are sounding great. What is the sound behind them, like female backing? Very effective. Great lyrics and musicianship too.
Cheers

This little piece sounds &mdash 02/10/08 - 03:06:26 AM
like something from -"we're only in it for the money" or maybe ,"Freak Out" ,by the Mothers of Invention, - you know what I mean, remember, -"Let's make the water turn black"- anyway back to this. The main thing I like about it is that it's a proper and well constructive song that doesn't allow the listener to get board, and it's well performed. I also like the almost tongue in cheek attitude. Does humour belong in music? -well just listen to all the early rock'n'roll records.
Nice work,
John.

Hi Dave,
This is a much better song than you indicate... your vocals are awesome!!!! A post brit 60's invasion rocking style, in my opinion. I like this tune!!!!!!!!

Sounds so familiar &mdash 02/10/08 - 09:04:33 PM
and then I realized I listed to this yesterday... thought I even left a comment but don't see one sooo....

Great sound on this. I'll call it retro-original. It sounds like it should be from the 60's but doesn't... you know? Lyrics were pretty darn interesting- and I didn't even try to read too much into them. The "walking alone, i wish I were home, eating, drinking, sleep like a stone" epitomizes how I feel about halfway through each workday!

Thanks again.

Very cool - like a lost track from Hair &mdash 02/13/08 - 10:19:25 PM
also reminds me a little of Pearls Before Swine. Very fresh and original sounding - I know I just sighted references - but you know what I mean. This really took me by surprise.

David, Someone said Doors meets Floyd. I think more like Doors meets Spoonful. I really like your guitar work and your song style is unique despite our attempts to classify you. Its a pleasure to listen to. I also don't know how I missed it, since I thought I was signed up for notifications (H-mmmm).

thanks,
Stephen

Really good. &mdash 02/14/08 - 08:58:46 AM
Someone said "doors meets spoonful." I'd say it sounds more like Industrial Vegetables meets Rusted Eternity, with maybe a bit of Arbruster thrown in there. :-)

It's a fun song, but if you hadn't told us what it was about, I don't think I would have known. Still, I like the line "my shadow knows what is real," though, really, I don't know what it means.

I love the vocals on this one, though. There right where I think they should have been all along. You sing better than you know.

(Is that enough comment?)

I get a Ray Davies vibe, but that's not important - it's just a good song Dave - lots of interesting stuff happening throughout - I really like the ending. "Quirky" comes to mind ;)
Cheers,
