Description:
A song dedicated to Annette Hanshaw the 1920's sweetheart. She was born in Manhattan October 1901. I have always been a fan and have just about everything she ever recorded. She is now long gone but not forgotten, Annette died in 1985. In the twenties there were, - flappers, vamps and sweet young things, and Annette was most definately a sweet young thing. This song was written and recorded in 2002. I suppose this is a love song in a way ?

Lyrics:
Fallin’ in love with you.
Words & music written by Woofer3 2002

Verse 1. You’d gotta believe me what I say is true,
If you turn me down you’re gonna make me blue,
Most of the time I’ve got my mind on you,
And I’m telling you how it is.

Verse 2. I got a good feelin’ and it’s here to stay,
Got it twenty four hours day after day,
I’ll tell you the reason and the way I feel,
‘Cos I’m fallin’ in love with you

Bridge Love is here and it won’t go away,
Never runs smooth never do what you say,
You can turn your back and come what may,
Nothing will take it’s place.

Break as verse.

Verse 3 I never met a girl like you before,
It was love at first sight and I wanted some more,
Dreaming a dream of what I thought maybe,
But I hope I’m not wasting my time,

Verse 4 I wanna be around, - number one in the line,
When I’m thinking of you, I know I feel just fine,
The answer is never too far away,
And I’m fallin in love with you.

a great pop song John. Reminds me of 'Video Killed the Radiostar' You really are a fantastic songwriter. Would have liked to read the lyrics and would love to hear this redone with up to date production.
Cheers
Len

this style, like how your voice sounds distant. Plus the music fits in, especially with the slide at least I think it is a slide. Love the story behind this! Wow!
Great tribute!

Hi

Oh how sweet I think its very lovely that you wrote and sang this song
for 'Annette Hanshaw' I bet she can hear it in heaven every time its played. And you sang it beautifully just like a songbird thank you so much for sharing.

Peace

Dee.

Thanks for the comments, I did have this on icomp and it was almost ignored so this has given me new confidence in it. I seem to remember the main backing track was recorded on a portastudio with a bit of sequencing trickery[done by someone who didn't know Jack sh*t about recording techniques, - ME !] and then all dropped into cubase 3.7 - or at least something like that.

Classic retro feel &mdash 04/03/08 - 11:22:47 AM
Really nice. Very Beatles-esque and well arranged. The end is abrupt, in my ears. Consider a slower/longer fade or composed ending.

I shall remember &mdash 04/04/08 - 11:39:25 AM
what you say. This recording was the original one that was made while the song was being written in 2002 and I think it would have been a good idea to have let it breath for a bit before actually recording it. Still it's done now, I did try and re record it but somehow although the remake was better qualitywise, the original feel was gone and I always prefered this recording. Thank you for your advice though all the same, and I agree a longer fade would have been preferable.
John.
