Lyrics
The Beautiful Haves

If you haven’t seen me in a while
You’ll know the reason why.
I’ve climbed down from the treadmill,
Turned my back against the life

A ship of fools is sailing on
Round and round the world.
They’ll end up where they started from
But only more absurd.

BRIDGE
I need…
Only the day.
I take…
My own way.
I want…
To be away
I leave…
You all today

CHORUS
It doesn’t matter who you are
Or who you want to be.
You’ve got to get born on the right side
Or learn it on your mother’s knee:

The Beautiful Haves that rule the world
Need the Have Nots too.
They’re counting dollars in their sleep
While others dream of food.

VERSE 3
A four-by-four parked under the trees
To run around the boys.
They'll never meet the young Chinese
Who make their Christmas toys.

It's a simple question of what you need
And whether you can choose
To give your children more to eat
Or whether there's weight to lose.

well of course
this is one of the best songs you've written, performed and produced. Good combination of subject, lyrical craft and musical realisation. Its a hit throughout. The quiet interjections are a masterstroke.

Simply a blindingly good song.

Fine songcraft
I think Davisamerica put it very well ... this is British Rock just as it should be. Melodic, dynamic and intelligently written. And you do have a lovely voice.
