Gee, and I had to cook and clean today, instead of being waited on. Darn. Next year...:-) This song reminds me of my first boyfriend, who told me to get all dressed up and that he'd be over to take me out to dinner. Well, he finally called to say he was in Atlanta.I was in NY. At least it wasn't raining... Sara did a great job singing this. Yaaaaayyyy Sara!!! Looking forward to hearing more vocals from you. ...every aspect of this number from the lyrics to the vocal line and quality to the driving rhythm track that holds it all together. For me, though, it was one verse too short and with a very abrupt ending. But there is so much to like here. Great collab. Can you give it a bit more? (Valentine, go for the demo. You've got the chops.)

Now Drak, being the very young looking dragon that he is, couldn't be more than 784 years old, so that makes you really young :)

Really good stuff in the writing department. I liked the abrupt ending - it worked really well with the words. Musical bed works very well too. I know nit picking may not be appropriate, but I'd love to hear the voice a little better integrated in the mix - maybe it's a mic problem. Just a small point though - congratulations!

especially considering that is your first one!! Your voice is very powerful, I think you can easily sing a lot of different genres, from the "angry" to the sweet ones....that's great!!

This is a great song. You sing very well and you did an excellent job. You are very creative and it will serve you well in the years ahead. Kudos to your great style and singing ability! Having Drak around is a huge bonus. He is so proud of you and we all can see why! Best of luck to you.

That's a hell of a catchy chorus you get there. Very tasteful and effective use of the loops. Very well sung considering this (one of your) first track(s). Next step IMHO: try to find the higher region in your voice now and then, and don't be afraid to spread some controlled angriness as well. Very, and I mean VERY promising:-)

I agree with everyone who said that this shows tremendous promise for you as a songwriter. You have a grasp of song structure that evades many people years older than you and this is a catchy tune with one heck (okay, I want to say hell, but your dad will kill me) of a hook. Very nice arrangement of the loops and you have a terrific voice and sing with tons of expression to boot.

I'd cut back on the reverb and try to get your vocals mixed into the bed a little better, but other than that, I'd say you get an A, young lady. :-)

SmokeyVW: Embarrassingly enough, actually... the guitar and background music were just some loops... But my voice was a live recording over the loops. I'm quite surprised at the number of positive comments I received! THANK YOU FOR PUTTING A FORUM POST ABOUT MY SONG!!!!!!!!! That made my week, as my father must have told you.

and especially love the way you deliver them... I'm hearing a lot of emotion. To me, that is everything in a vocal song... it should be personal. You do that extremely well!

I would love to hear this remixed... this song is strong as it is but I think it could be so much more with a little tweaking of the levels (says the guy who has no patience for working on his own music). In any case, this is far better than most first efforts I've heard... including my own. Keep at it!

This is a great 'first' effort to post. The subject matter is a little tough, and music gives us a medium to express these things. I'm sure I'm not alone in expressing that I wish I had the tools to do this when I was your age, I had a lot more time back then - LOL.

This has a lot of things going for it, not least the lyrics and vocal performance. Although you say it's all loops, it certainly doesn't sound like it (though others might know better than I do). And the mix is really good, but could use just a little more polish for that "pro" sound. Otherwise, it's really great.

great vocal melody you have written here. very moving lyrics. and nice arrangement in garageband. the quality of that program astounds and scares me sometimes. it's gonna put old school musicians like myself out of work!
