Wow, this is pretty different for you Alex, but I really like it. Reminds me a bit of Japan , actually, but I think this suits the trip hop genre really well. Great drums as usual, and strange flying insect synths. Love the piano on this... this sounds pretty well there to me.

Like Japan &mdash 02/12/08 - 01:17:32 AM
this posting is pretty different for me - but i like e.g. massive attack, morcheeba or even hooverphonic - and done in a record time. japan is new to me ... i will listen to their stuff.
thanks, steve [ Reply to This ]

thanks kenta, my loyal friend. this time I've left (disloyally i am) my usual path and had fun with it (especially the drums)! no idea, why ... the evening before i've seen ocean's twelve ... maybe i got somehow impressed by its soundtrack? surely trip hop won't be my located genre. Nice one Alex &mdash 02/12/08 - 03:12:14 PM
Smooth stuff.
Different maybe but still very very good.
Cheers

different &mdash 02/13/08 - 12:29:31 PM
You really have a way with creating a mood with all these sounds that swirl around and envelope the listener. I have listened to all your previous compositions and you are consistent when it comes to that skill. I agree that this song is different from your previous posts, a little on the experimental side. Your previous ones were more immediately ear-friendly, but I guess this one grows on you after repeated listening. [ Reply to This ]
hidden handwriting &mdash 02/14/08 - 03:32:50 AM
good to read that there is a noticeable handwriting or a "golden thread" along my postings. Most of my genre experiments are ending up in the trash or in the drawer, this time i dared to post ;)
thanks Leon! [ Reply to This ]
trip-hop &mdash 02/13/08 - 11:46:33 PM
That's the genre I think. Dark sneaky insectacoustical groove boxie. I really dig this track. I'm gonna jam on this in my car on the way to work tomorrow. tastiness Alex! Well done. The drums are ace!

trip job &mdash 02/14/08 - 03:53:20 AM
i took from steve, that you're pretty busy (job-wise) these days - but fortunately with guitars in your travel-luggage?! Impressive image of you jammin' in a car ... the only doubt i have is: who will be the man behind the wheel? I'm damn curious about it!!
thanks (and take care) phil [ Reply to This ]
I'm certainly &mdash 02/14/08 - 12:05:13 AM
not an expert in trip hop by any means, but I do think this has come together nicely. The instruments seems to blend together. It reminds me a little of something from the movie "Out of Sight"
Sounds good to me. [ Reply to This ]
soderbergh sound &mdash 02/14/08 - 04:00:46 AM
i love "out of sight" (and its soundtrack). tip of the hat, if i should have hit the same nerve.

misunderstanding &mdash 02/14/08 - 12:29:21 PM
soderbergh is the director (of out of sight and ocean's twelve - the movie i've seen a day before making the song). Both movies have a very cool soundtrack, reason why i called this "soderbergh sound". David Holmes made the music.

wow - I just stumbled onto this (late to the game, sorry), and I really really like it. You're a find! I'll have to listen to some other of your music to understand how it's a departure for you. But whatever, this is very cool and I've enjoyed it thoroughly. As a pianist I especially like the sound of the ivories up there high in the sound field. It adds much interest to an already interesting piece of music. Thanks [ Reply to This ]
Great honour &mdash 03/16/08 - 08:19:10 AM
to read this from a pianist like you, as would suppose myself a bloody greenhorn in playing the piano and composing. This one actually is a departure in terms of the things I've posted so far but not in terms of the music I've been used to listen to. I'm really "open minded" in this field ...
Thanks Karen, for listening and your nice words! [ Reply to This ]
Round edginess &mdash 04/22/08 - 01:50:26 AM
It's not easy to get clean, resonant bass. This is really well done. Good "spacing" of synth voices along the sound spectrum. A nice round sound. Trippy, mysterious, energetic and adventurous. [ Reply to This ]
