Hey it's fun for me too
A lot of the time when I start to work on a song I start without too much of an idea where I am going. I guess my mood has as much to do with my initial choices of tempo and the basic rhythm tracks that I work on. When a germ of an idea strikes me as worthy of my time I start to run with it building the entire mood of the song and the direction it should go based upon my general disposition and based also upon what the song is telling me that it wants.

So when you say it is a surprise to unwrap one of my songs ... it is sometimes the same kind of surprise for me to put them together.

Little Latin
This is fabulous. I'm tappin' my toes (oh alright, I'm dancing WILDLY, OK??). The piano and guitar take it to new places. Just wonderful - I'm off to listen to the rest of you! Thanks

I hope you find some other songs by me that you enjoy. I appreciate the fact that you have spent some time with my offerings. Since time is all we really have in this life and we really don't know how much of it we have, the gift of you giving me some of your time is indeed appreciated.

Bill, you
do get the most interesting beats and sounds in your music. I love the latin piano style in this along with the varying percussion, regards M

Very
complicated rhythms throughout this, I love how it twists and changes, only to come back again. Very good sense of that, love it

Thanks so much
That concept of coming back to the main theme is something I do often with my pieces. For me it is just good basic structure and it is a way to conserve ideas. Good ideas (themes or melodies) are hard to come up with and should not be wasted, so I often build a song around the idea, do variations on that theme and then return to it like an old friend.

I LOVE this song!
Hey there -- I'm a listener, not a creator (and am Magnatone's tin earred other half). I downloaded this song a few days back and find myself grinning happily each time it comes up on the iPod shuffle. Such a fun, happy, joyful tune ... I'm already imagining where it will fit on the motorcycle playlist this summer. Thanks for sharing it!

I'm really happy you like it. Just don't go groovin' too much and lose control of that bike!

modulation ... yes
You'll find that I do that a lot in my pieces. Because of the way I work, I like to conserve the themes I use but keep them interesting by key changes at various places. An old but still useful technique.
