Description:
My first submission to MacJams. A bit of a mix of styles, but 'ambient' seems to be the closest. It's also a bit long-winded, almost a suite.

Hardware:
iMac Intel Core Duo

Software:
Logic Express 7

this is awesome. Mastery of the flowing synths, really. I totally agree with Ambient as your classification, the only other option I could see for this one is Progressive, but many people might be expecting a Rush type of rocker. Some parts have kind of "Yes" vibe going on. "Heart of the Sunrise" specifically, but bringing up comparisons to them is KUDOS to you. Really inventive and just plain fun. I favorited this one, rock on. Welcome, I'll keep an eye on your stuff for sure.

Thanks! A very nice welcome.

So, it must be cool to have a middle name like 'Ex'. Heh.

my middle name is Ronald, ha ha but If Jon Bon Jovi can do it then certainly I can.

that progression &mdash 02/18/08 - 10:05:26 AM
is just mesmerizing. as well the choice of synth sounds and the delay applied. all work very well together. I second the fav comparisons to Yes. The overall feeling is luxurious. Lots of deep sonic textures to massage the mind. bravo

Much appreciated... &mdash 02/20/08 - 10:56:51 AM
thanks Karma --- may I call you Karma?

But seriously, Yes ?? ... haha ... I wish. One of my favorites. You're too kind.

yes, mostly, maybe... &mdash 03/26/08 - 11:42:06 AM
Welcome to Macjams... nice entry piece. Definitely has a bit of the "Yes-Synth" sound here and there (with some Styx thrown in for good measure... wow, I'm having cool flashbacks :-) Anyway, very nice work melting from one section to the next, and great musical ideas and execution here. Are you playing this on keyboards, or scoring in notes, or a little of both? Due to its definite "ambient" nature, this music would fit wonderfully as movie soundtrack music. Cool picture too, looks computer-rendered... something you did or found?

Thanks for the nice words. No keyboards used here. I own a (practically untouched) Yamaha S90 ES, but I'm a guitarist from way back when, and I'm still working on integrating guitar into the mix. Maybe keyboards a little further on down the road.

The picture is "Memory" (1948) by Rene Magritte. I guess I should have given him credit.

Thanks again.

Dreamy - great debut &mdash 04/10/08 - 07:55:16 PM
I'd concur with the ambient - very dreamy and well mixed! I listened to your first submission first - Now I'll have to listen to more!

Really cool stuff here! &mdash 09/21/08 - 12:33:41 PM
I enjoyed this piece a lot, sweet good old solosynthsounds on top of a smooth soundbed. What else could you ask for? Maybe crystal clear and varied drums? Well, it's got that too... (Possibly of I kind I should use in my humble pieces ;-)

What I can't figure is the math behind 19 downloads and 4 fans. I guess the fav button was broken for a time...

Take care!

Thanks Henke... &mdash 09/26/08 - 12:31:04 PM
for stopping by to check out one of my oldies. I put a lot of time into this, but the production is mediocre. I've learned a lot since then. I could redo it, but I'm not going to. Too much work. Call it a learning experience. About the math ... well, if one person likes it, I'm happy.

I just came to listen. &mdash 10/02/08 - 05:12:57 PM
This is a really nicely put together piece. A nice orchestral piece that tells a story. Thank you.
