Description:
a work in progress...

Lyrics:
racking my brain
feeling the strain
all these things that circle me
the solemn truth that summons me

with every blink
i push it all away
try to get in line get in sync
cut into mind edit out some scenes

but then..
what good is there in
pretending
what is, isn’t?
but then..
what good is there in
pretending
what is, isn’t?
(backing fx voice:"if you say so")

okay... &mdash 02/13/08 - 11:25:33 PM
seriously, this is maybe my favourite thing of yours. maybe it's just the mood i'm in or whatever, but this is fantastic. beautifully produced. the sparseness is so full. the atmosphere is very vivid. vocals are excellent. all the instrumentation and voices are perfectly chosen. Well done.
-Rain

it could be twice as long and not go anywhere else and i would be quite content with it.

almost afraid &mdash 02/13/08 - 11:27:05 PM
to comment... last time I did you deleted the song :)

To try and echo what I said- "experimental" in not in my comfort zone... but since it was you I gave it a listen and was wonderfully surprised. Your vocals are captivating and really pull the whole song together. Very interesting sounds! Nice mellow vibe and very, very relaxing.

And I won't be such a genre snob in the future- as I now know I'm missing some very good and creative works.

you have a &mdash 02/14/08 - 07:18:40 AM
gift. A wonderful ability to create a luscious backdrop to dip your beautiful voice in. Strawberries and chocolate. I can't see what else might enhance this, but I eagerly look forward to future incarnations if they develop.

wow, that was a tasty comparison. sonic sweets? glad you found my artistry so palletable;)

I probably already said this... &mdash 02/14/08 - 07:48:36 AM
...but I can't shake a resonance of older Peter Gabriel with this... His moodier, slower pieces with cool, slow synth and percussion elements and a high voice finding its place above it all...

I had to put on my better headphones to make sure I was catching all the deep slow bass-y things happening, especially at the beginning... If this was years ago, I'd think you were playing with slowing down the tape reels...

I like experimental stuff that sounds like it's creative but also has a point or direction... That would be this...

And mind you, you could have posted it under 'pop' and I'd be nodding my head, going, "Yep, it fits there..."

Ed

headphone worthy &mdash 02/14/08 - 05:53:22 PM
you really don't know how much it means to know you take the time to listen and comment. your so open minded and kind..wow! so i assume your great at your day job too;)

it is a very high compliment that you hear similarities to peter gabriel, as his music has always had such power over me. it's funny i haven't listened to his work in ages, but growing up i spent many hours in headphones immersing myself in his world. i know he has influenced me maybe more that i realize..

wishes for a most enjoyable weekend

Smashing!!!!! &mdash 02/14/08 - 01:20:46 PM
Smashing piece of experimental work.

A unique blend of, to me, Sinnaid O Connor and maybe Pete Gabriel (as someone else said).

I'm really glad I had a listen to it.

Take care.

Paul

Want Lyrics! &mdash 02/14/08 - 03:26:32 PM
Love this. Can just sit back and relax to this one. I do want to know the lyrics however. Great vocals, they really tie the song together (as someone else mentioned). Can't wait to hear the finished product!

Hi Stranger &mdash 02/14/08 - 05:40:29 PM
Such a long time since I have commented here. I received an email that you had posted a track and thought I must drop back for a listen.

So please I did. Great tune and vocal perfectly complements the track.

Great work from you again.

I hopefully will get back into posting music here soon.

All the best

Beautiful. The picture and the music collide, vulnerability and mysticism. Your forte! The lyrics haunt me. I had to write the silly stuff below. Dunno why, cos I want to perhaps? Jop!

Pretensions are dangerous when you are a perfectionists, but perhaps inevitable when striving for something.
To pretend as a process is ontologically false, to behave like something is while it actually isn't. I also think that to pretend is dangerous when one is fragile/sensitive. Especially at the receiving end of it (fragile people see the pretentions for what they are worth...nothing...lies...a hoax...childish...etc.).
Ah well, to believe in god is the same, proof to me that she exists. I believe in god, just not in pretending she exists. I have learned to keep my meaningful pretentions in my cautate nucleus (the part of the brain where love "resides").

Have a nice weekend dame,
Boo

Btw, I would love to work on the acapella....give it somefin stark and dangerous....Grrrrowllll, hahahaha

Cushions of Darkness &mdash 02/20/08 - 05:25:01 PM
That's pretty much how I felt. I slipped through a warp hole and landed on a big soft black bed in the middle of an abyss. So I couldn't tell the bed was black... or if the bed was distinct from the nothingness, for that matter. The whole world was a big blend of beauty. I fell asleep. You summoned the blunted throbs to lul me, the subtly energized pulses to tease my dreams, and the swirling banner of treble that was your voice to keep me poised. The darkness had a bit of blue and yellow and pink whisking around in it. I felt no temperature. The darkness smothered it all in a nihilistic sort of joy. Just that dancing light fluttered around, reminding me of what lay outside. I could leave any time I wanted to... but I didn't want to.

What Good &mdash 03/13/08 - 10:28:05 AM
Sorry I'm so late to the party here. This is excellent. I can't say enough about your voice, and how you molded it to this song. I love the "echo-ey" feel, and then as the other instruments come in, the way it builds is really magnificent. I hope you post some more soon. In the meantime, I'm going to go back and hear what else you've got in your library - if this is any indication, I'll be thrilled! Thanks

The vocal mixing is excellent - I'll have to check out more of what you've done. Has a dark haunting feel to it.
