Description:
if someone can tell how to solve that hissing on the guitar track, thank you.
Lyrics:
Twenty two-years of stalking youOf birthday cards and love letters
Of surprise presents and flowers
Of admiring all that you do
of trying to share your showers
in miserable sleepovers
Of spying for the slightest clue
When I can try to steal a kiss
Somtimes a hit often a miss :
Of waiting for rendez-vous
In movie theater darkness
Of soft breasts that I softly press
Oh I don’t feel bad
Oh I don‘t feel bad….
Twenty two-years of stalking you
O f birthday cards and love letters
Of surprise presents and flowers
Of admiring all that you do
Of shaking hands with your lovers
Or stroking the hair of your daughters
Oh I don’t feel bad
Oh I don‘t feel bad
Cos it’s the best I’ve ever had

Or stroking the hair of your daughters
... what a line. This is funny and scary at the same time.
I dont notice the guitar hiss, but a noise gate or hi cut filter may help.
Your work is really getting better and better JC, as is the production.
Cant wait for the next album!

about the next album, you'll have one as soon as it's done.

Your vocals sound like a B Side of The Cure's Head On The Door with Ray Manzarek playing keys. I agree with Steve that your songs and production skills are always getting better and better, but I disagree that you are deranged. Re-ranged maybe, but never de-ranged. I listen to 2005's Album of the year "Fantaste" and it still rips my scalp off my boney skull and makes me think of the things to come. A groundbreaking endeavor.
Twenty two years of stalking you is a romantic idea. I don't see a weirdness as much as I see a sense of commitment. It's an undying love scenario and I find it very romantic. Shaking hands with your lovers proves it, and the stroking the hair of your daughters lyric doesn't necessarily suggest anything naughty - it's another one of your clever double meanings that indict the interpreter.
I love the Thomas Edison snippet at the end of the song. Goes hand in hand with your Monkeyshines reference (I think Breezer missed your comment).
And I didn't hear a guitar hiss. I heard another excellent BK Sound guitar that blended perfectly with this relaxed vocal performance.
Mrs Daley must be proud.

is a cure B-side !
I don't think the vocals is really relaxed, though. I'm not used to sing slow songs, and whereas anything goes on quick numbers, you can really get ridiculous on ballad stuff, and I was afraid I'd make a fool of myself on this one.
Thanks for your support.

intriguing song - very original and thought-provoking. Extremely well performed and produced. I can hear the hiss at the beginning of the song. I had the same problem with my mic - ended up buying a new one to solve it.
Cheers

Actually I don't mind the hissing that much. This song can be a bit a rough, like the f***ed-up love/wedding song that it is.

a Hamlet Machines ballad? friggin awesome. it's almost like Iggy Pop got the Cure to back him up on the Soldier record. i really like this one a lot. you're voice sounds great in this setting.
this is just sick enough. needs to be in a movie. i really like the flute sound and the organ in the chorus. one of your best.
cjdaley
Yes,not really our genre. And difficult to do.
The cure helped, a bit, indeed. I recently realized the chorus arrangement were dim memories of "the top" one of their most sick and underrated album, where they used this kind of panflute and organ sounds.

I don't know another word I would use for this. Interesting. Freakin'interesting.
Don't feel bad.
Great stuff!

This is very nicely done. Great guitar sound - I really don't see the hissing as a major issue. Your vocal is terrific, and you deliver those clever, intriguing lyrics with great expressiveness. I like it. Nice work. Peace.

I'm in no way a singer, but I tried to compensate with a little acting. Glad it did for you.

I kinda like your delivery and the creepy yet poignant 'mary had a little lamb' bit on the end - somehow I get the idea that this part is one of the earliest recordings ever made... as if it matters. Fucking bravo!
cjdaley
Yes, it is supposed to be first recording ever. A little tribute to Edison, the man who, in Pere Ubu's David Thomas' words, has invented rock'n'roll.
Thanks for the princely comment.

of shaking hands with your lovers / or stroking the hair of your daughters...
Is it weird that I want to sing this?
The way you sing "oh I don't feel bad" is perfect. I love the flutey sound, and that music break in the middle --I love it!
Great, great song, but I don't know about that little lamb ending...the cover art, however, is fantastic! as spooky and mysterious as the song is.
cjdaley
the cover art is a painting called "the skirt" by belgian artist Michael Borremans. The image on the "secret keepers" page is also by him.
you dont feel bad.. Oh by the way the deraangement is almost a fly caught in a web allright its caught. I dont know if mary's lamb realy follows her!!
cjdaley
if mary really loved the lamb.

your music always has a way of hooking me in within the first couple of seconds. Basically your songs have me at hello. Anyway, amazing song here. It has a unique combination of being creepy yet somehow meaningful.
cjdaley
Hello, then.
Thanks a lot for commenting.
I think the guitar and the beat are really groovy... It catch me, while listening.... The vocals in the "oh i don't feel bad...", sounds great with the fx's on it....
Great to hear this song.....
cjdaley
I wouldn't sing without FXs, anyway.
I like that minor key Hamlet Machine groove, The vocals sound real good up front...great song guys!
