Description:
Written back in the mid 80's. This was my first foray into Digital recording. I just completed my third pass over the song. I am now a year into digital recording. About 4 hours of slicing and dicing. Recorded originally with an sm57, then a small diaphragm condenser mic, and had a to redo a ooh's in the middle to get the correct harmonies. Its meant as a demo.
Lyrics:
People come and people learnTrying hard not to return
What their meaning is in life
Searching for independence
I only know where I'm from
Our destinies set to be one
Taken off with a broken wing
Learn to fly, sing our freedom song
Dance with Me, be my star
Dance with Me, be my star
Words are two and two is one
Together we do what's been undone
Taken for the world to see
Learn to fly, ing our freedom song
Dance with Me, be my star
Dance with Me, be my star
[Solo]
Dance with Me, be my star
Dance with Me, be my star
Dance with Me, be my star
Dance with Me, be my star
Be my star, be my star
Be my star...

Eagle, Davevan, Feter -Thank you very much for your feedback. My friend Scot Larsen plays ALL of my bass lines. He used a Sadowski bass and I used a garageband bass preset that really brought out the tone of his instrument. He Comes over and lays down 1 or 2 tracks then he's done. He is amazing. Good call with the Allman Bros. I like the energy they bring to their music and performances. I definitely know who they are!

everything sounds so clear; well-produced. I agree the bass is outstanding, but so is your quick guitar work. Good job!

Love the acoustic sound you have here, and very impressive playing. You have a nice touch, and I like those little fills you throw in there. Lovely rhythm to the track, and very nice harmonies give the song terrific depth and really bring out the melody. I agree with the previous commenters on the bass work- your friend Scot deserves major props. As do you, by the way! Very cool song. Glad I stopped by. I'll be looking out for future posts. Nicely done. Peace.

Thanks for the kind words. Lots of guitars in the rhythm tracks on this one. =)

I don't hear enough guitar solos on acoustic guitars. Nice job. You sing well too.

I'm kind of old school when it comes to solos. I think most songs deserve at least one good solo. Since I recent;y sold my electric guitar. you'll be hearing a few more acoustic guitar solos on my stuff. Glad you liked the song. =) Thanks for stopping by.
echoroom

.. was all prepared for an evening of listening ... and lo and behold .... one tune .... but I was not disappointed cause it was a good tune ! hope to hear more new ones! You said this was an original 80;s recording ... but for me it held that good old 70's sound ..... ah what ever happened to the good old days ! When music was just music ... it wasn't all FX and mixing .... and zzzzpft zzzzpft ..... echooooooooooooooo zzzzpft ! hahaha nice tune!

Its was written in the 80's when I was in college and definitely influenced by the 70's. It worked pretty well back then but I agree its a 70's song. It was recored in the last year (using GB) and is currently performed this way.
Thanks for your comment

In my phones everything sounds really well-placed: vox are great, and the guitar is beautiful. Break a leg with this.

Fantastic vocals and excellent guitar work.I can hear some Jerry Garcia in there with the Allman influence.Great job!
E-Frame Wrecker
Those are some great guitarists you named. I've always liked Jerry's ability to navigate the major chord progressions, the Allman Brothers were one of a kind.
Scott Carmichael
top notch acoustic work, and great vocals.... I only like guitar soloing if there is a statement made... and your guitar work doesn't distract from the song...there is a conversational quality to the solo.. it doesn't meander aimlessly... and becomes an intricate part of the songs texture...
really great driving music by the way... this one for some reason makes me want to hit the road...
... outstanding acoustic guitar and vocals. This mellow tune is really one pleasant ride. Can't say enough... including your production qualities. Top notch.

groove here is great - kind of Dead, Clapton, Winwood, a real nice job on harmonies too.

I have reconnected with all those bands you mention over the last 10 years. That was a great time for music. Thanks for the feedback.

Smooth and flowing. Stellar performance and production. I can't help think I have heard this before. Has it been on another site, or involved with some sort of commercial venture?
E-Frame Wrecker
I have not released this commercially... yet. I will likely redo it first. I doubt that you have heard it before, unless you have seen me live about a year back. Thank you very much for stopping by, commenting and voting.

Hitting your first post. I really like you style. You're a fantastic musician and song writer. Just enough pop feel to give it what it needed.
Bravo (for the second time),

this song immediately brought Dave Mason to mind, which is pretty good in my book.
Nice, relaxed groove and a good melodic flow. Good harmony work always makes me happy and this song has it. Nice acoustic lead work, too. ;)

blend of guitar and voice. Thoroughly enjoyed it so that I was disappointed when it ended. This is Feel Good music and it just puts you in a great mood. Nice, that.
Thank you.
