Description:
This is a bold experiment in samplers, soft synths, classical and more electronic sounds, arrangements, interaction of parts and the taking of liberty.

It's a thriller-type movie sound track, with tension and what was at first a camera-shutter-type sound that was left mainly as a percussive sound (in the end).

The last portion of the piece, as it starts to fade, is a modification of what went before. This gives a clue as to why this mix is numbered 'one'.

Very Jason Bourne... &mdash 02/19/08 - 03:55:45 PM
It'd bold, like you said. In the fray. The whole "soundtrack" element makes the song very simple %u2013 simple to the point where your strings are reduced to long bars of switching between notes... In the long-run, I'd flesh that out a little. A very good experiment. Lots of fun little sounds to keep my mind spinning. Fits the title. Great feeling!

Thanks Zagar..... &mdash 02/20/08 - 10:12:51 AM
I hadn't noticed the Jason Bourne connection but a couple of weeks ago I say through the Bourne Trilogy, so may have been influenced. I just can't recall any of the themes, from any of the movies, off the top of my head.

You kind words were appreciated.

Well &mdash 02/19/08 - 04:10:06 PM
I have mixed emotions listening to this as a cinematic sound track, it did not give me a mental picture show to go with the music, I drew a blank screen, having said that it is an interesting, and entertaining piece of music and I like it with one other exception it is very repetitive and does not evolve with either a build up of the theme, or shifting sounds, well you asked, don't get me wrong as a piece of music it's quite good and I like it, with the noted exceptions...

Hi Dave...... &mdash 02/20/08 - 10:19:18 AM
On here, anything goes as far as what you want to say. Repetition is a large component of this and other of my pieces. I prefer the subtle changes within a repeating phrase or section, that may not be noticeable on a first listen.

I can appreciate your coming up with a blank picture when you listen to this piece. My music has this same effect on many of those who stop by!!! I could not give you a specific picture that I thought of when the piece was being mixed, so agree with your observations.

All I can say is that the mix of sounds and phrasing sounded OK to me, so I left things as they were on the 4th take and this is the result.

Thanks for taking time to listen and leave your honest opinion. The type of opinion I prefer.

Take care.

Paul

i like &mdash 02/19/08 - 08:14:26 PM
this one. how did you make the shutter click? cool sound. i'm getting more alternative than cinematic with this one (probably the vocal reminds me of Dead Can Dance in a strange way), but i really like the song. like the unexpected chord changes (meaning not typical 1-3-5). nice track Paul.

Thanks Michael....... &mdash 02/20/08 - 10:25:58 AM
I wasn't too sure of the gendre to put this one under. I thought experimental but the classical tracks held me back, so I lumped it under the CS genre with not too much conviction.

I'll have to listen to it again, to identify the shutter noise sound alike. I've made something like 11 other mixes since that one, so I will have to check out my programming and get back to you with how it was made.

I'll drop you a not sometime in the next day or so.

Take care.

Galloping rhythm &mdash 02/25/08 - 10:40:49 PM
I liked the galloping rhythms (that chattering camera shutter sound was very effective) and your dark synths. A unique sonic canvas that while I found enjoyable might have gone on a bit too long for me. But I lean toward the lean.
Good to hear you work again.
Take care my friend,
Charlie

Hi Charlie.... &mdash 02/27/08 - 12:17:39 AM
It's been a while since I saw you around.

Hope everything is going well for you.

Thanks for taking time to listen and leave your kind words.

I know what you mean about lengthy pieces but mine all vary depending on the mood I'm in and the feel of the piece.

Take care.
