Description:
... so we met up in Oklahoma and ended up in Maine.. go figure

Lyrics:
I’ve been waiting, and I can’t stop now
When are you gonna be home?
It’s been so long. I don’t know how
I’m gonna go on

Between the devil and the deep blue sea
My love lies waiting for me
With every drop of rain that falls
Traveling to the silent sea

I always knew that the sun would rise
I never doubted the moon
And when you were not by my side
You’d be coming home soon

Between the devil and the deep blue sea
My love lies waiting for me
With every drop of rain that falls
Traveling to the silent sea

If I could see you just one more time
As I stand by the door
If I could feel your warm hand in mine
It wouldn’t hurt anymore

Between the devil and the deep blue sea
My love lies waiting for me
With every drop of rain that falls
Traveling to the silent sea

Fantastic &mdash 02/19/08 - 07:45:06 PM
Your voice is simply fantastic.... It starts good with the guitar... But when the 2nd verse starts, with the other instruments... That's great.... I like this song...

And a very good sound in the mix....
I think it's one of the best songs i've heard, here on MJ....

We appreciate &mdash 02/20/08 - 07:56:02 PM
those generous comments. Jack's getting pretty good at this mixing thing. He threw out my horrible harmonies and improved it with his own 100 %. Thanks for the compliments on vocals. I always want to hide behind a reverb, but now and then show some guts.

We strayed from the original concept, but both directions seem to get us where we wanted to be. Jack is an endless reservoir of melodies. Thanks for listening. Terry

And the lyrics are interesting. This has a very nice folk effect, love the stereo harmonica, nice organ sound mixture and jells nicely with the harmonica. Nice ending.

One of my favs of yours. Nicely done.

Thanks for sharing

Kinda nervous about &mdash 02/20/08 - 09:54:35 PM
the original mix you left with me Jack. But you did wonders with it after you got it home and played with it. Thanks for fixing that harmony. Yours worked a lot better than mine.

Especially for the performance comment. Wasn't sure I could pull off the harmonica hoax. It's been years since I picked one up. Will keep up the practice though.

I loved &mdash 02/20/08 - 10:39:16 AM
this song the first time I heard it ( so moving) tho' it sounds fuller now with the different theme..... it still does for me now what it did then and the words are just beautiful. Love your treatment and the vocal is wonderful I'll have to DL it again so thanks, regards M

Yeah, the first one &mdash 02/20/08 - 10:14:34 PM
grabbed me too. I felt nervous tampering with something I felt couldn't be improved upon, but Jack was there to supervise. And his idea produced another gem. Thanks for the 2nd download. Terry

Thanks for the compliments &mdash 02/21/08 - 11:32:09 PM
When Jack first showed me this song I said "I want to sing that!" I didn't care if I did it any good or not. It just felt good to sing it. He let me add two verses, and I got an even greater thrill. Glad you like it too. Tried to capture his magical keys with my guitar. Glad you liked my attempt. My original harmonies were a fiasco. He spared you from this and added his own. Thanks for tuning in, and for the generous comments.

Hi
your voice is brilliant I have listened to it twice and many more times to come. Before I go to sleep from now on
Your voice will be singing in my ears guaranteed my freind, and the Harp sounded just right for this song. I am learning still to play mine got three not bad on the train sound but still not mastered it yet. Your totally amazing this song blew me away and certainly had me swooning lol Loved the seaguls and the lyrics too.
Peace Dee xxx

Thank you for the generous comments Dee. &mdash 03/20/08 - 11:59:33 PM
This song had a special meaning, and so strong emotions were unavoidably released. Still struggling with live performances without choking up and embarrassing myself. And I am gratified by your appreciation of the harp. It's been on the shelf for several years, but I picked it up for this song. Nearly gagged from the dust on the valves. But I strongly encourage you to pursue mastering this instrument. Even as a novice, you can play it superbly. It has built in chords! You can fool people into thinking you know what you're doing. Thanks again, Terry

Terry, this makes me cry, in a good way.. It is so beautifully written and sung... What a poet you are. Just amazingly good.

Embracing &mdash 07/07/08 - 10:47:47 AM
Each phrase is an embrace. Your voice has heart.

I think there is little difference between the sea and the prairie. I guess that must be how you can make this song sound so natural.
